I picked up the necessary materials to build some of the 2x4 stands, so that is the next project. I need to get the car high enough to remove the transmission so that I can replace the flex plate.

Starting to make progress on the car finally. I ended up wasting half a day making stands to get the car higher and decided to make a redneck trans jack instead of buying anything. Hopefully it will work, at least once. Ha Ha

I am in the process of pulling the trans to replace the flex plate, I am upgrading to an SFI approved plate w/ARP fasteners. I am installing the adjustable torque arm I purchased awhile ago since my stock one is bent up. I also picked up a new tunnel brace for better exhaust clearence and because the factory sucks. Ha Ha

Trans is out, this thing is disgusting for a 50K car, I assume that the intake had been leaking for awhile. I also suspect that the oil plug at the top of the block may be leaking.

Degreasing the trans, this thing was filthy... I also removed the factory torque arm bushings, painted up all of the brackets and installed the new poly mount.

Trans is as clean as its going to get, the car is a driver anyway... I swapped out the torque arm bushing for the urethane version, cleaned and painted the bracket. I also painted the exhaust hanger bracket since it was off the trans. Cleaned up the trans crossmember, removed the old flex plate and figured out I ordered the wrong one. Ordered the correct flex plate and moved onto other projects.

Since I will be delayed waiting on the correct flex plate, I decided to correct my speedometer. After putting the correct tires on the car, I noticed that the speedometer was off apx 9-10mph at highway speeds. I pulled the speed sensor yesterday and figured out why.... The trans has the "correct" red drive gear, but had a light green (34 tooth) driven gear. From the calculators I ran, I need a 43-44 tooth driven gear for my gear ratio (3.23) and tire size (245/50/R16). I ordered a new gear, so hopefully that corrects the issue.

It is and crap, really? So why would the speedometer be off so far? You think the rear gear ratio has been changed?

The rear may have been swapped out, the only way to know for sure would be to pop the cover and count the teeth. It wouldn't surprise me if it had been, swapping the rear is usually easier / cheaper than having one rebuilt.

Trans is back in the car, glad to be done with that process. I also installed the new adjustable torque arm and tunnel brace.

I spent Saturday resealing the intake manifold, apparently I didnt get the silicone applied correctly or moved the intake too much the first time. This cured my oil leak issue so far, fingers crossed! I also recharged the A/C and its working great so far, so Im very happy with that. Sunday I decided to install the headlights I purchased for the car a long time ago, I really like the C/K conversion on these.

The car is finally moving in the right direction (no pun intended), no more oil leak, A/C blowing cold and seems to be driving well. I took some decent full shots of the car outside for the first time in a long time.

One of my factory driving lights was broken when I got the car, so I swapped to LED replacements for now. I cannot justify the cost for new factory lamps right now. After looking at the photo, I need to adjust them a bit, but at least they are in place.

I also painted the driver's front fender and door finally, not perfect, but at least its one color now.

I also took some good photos of my exterior LED upgrades.
