Default Need advice on 94 LT1

I work for a credit union, and we recently repoed a 94 lt1 camaro. thing sounds loud as hell and looks good, but it wont go over 40 mph, the automechanics shop did the diagnostics on it and they found these major problems: bad distributor, serpentine belt, oil filter and oil, repair the wiring to coolant sensor. the car books out at 4500, but the CEO said that he would let me have it for 3000 what do you guys think? i'm 20 and i don't know how much insurance would be, i'm sure its going to be pretty high, for some reason they think that i would speed in that car if i had it???? thanks in advance.

I'm also 20 and pay 200 a month for insurance on my car, thankfully I won't have to pay it any longer when the cars go into storage. I don't think any of the things you listed would keep the car from going over 40mph, sounds like something else is wrong with it. What kind of mileage does it have?

I'd jump on it, I think the "oil and filter" as a dianosis for running less than 40 is hokie, but you could get it running with a little TLC. It's a good price. You have a year prior your insurance going down. Take Def Driving and drop your insurance a little if you haven't already. And yes INS on a Z28 is very expensive, in fact I dropped my oldest son from my joint policy when I bought mine couple years back for that very reason.

Distributor will run you about $300. Offer him $2000 and see if they will negotiate.

If you can get away with liability I would do that. My liability coverage on my Z28 is $240 a year (Single, 28 years old).

I pay 60 a month now (no long have full converage)..was at 160.00 a month prior for full coverage. 23, with tickets

You could get a cap & rotor for your opti for a little over 100.00..I think autozone carrys a replacement opti for cheap as well. Would need ~500 in work it sounds like.

I would try to talk him down a little Every little bit helps.
