Question bbc in 4th gen camaro!

i Have a 77 nova racecar with a 468. I hate the bodies of 77 novas soooooo its time for a change in pace. i want to build a 4th gen camaro with a BBC. How hard is it going to be to swap out a 6cyl for the 468. i am pricing a few 6cyl cars for around 1500 that are very clean. my plans for the car is going to be BBc, turbo 400 t-break, ladder bars, back half, and a 12 point cage. what kind of troubles am i going to occur in my up comeing project? I have been asking on every camaro site on the web and no 1 can give me a answer so is this a very uncommon swap? or have people done this in the past? any answers would be great.
thanks
mike

First off , I wouldn't look at V6 cars but the most ideal candidate is going to be the '93-'97 LT1 cars. The LT1 is a lot more similiar to the gen I small block dimensionally and in terms of bolting in than the LS1 is. As a nice side note , you can buy a pretty clean LT1 Z28 for what you could buy a clean V6 '98 and up Camaro. I really don't know if a BBC would fit in the engine bay but it does sound feasible. Anyone else know?

This thread belongs under, and has been examined in great detail, the sbc and bbc section. Nevertheless, many bbc have been installed in 4th gen camaros and firebirds. The fitup is not too bad, but there are many issues to overcome such as the pcm, ignition, etc.

Since this car will only be seeing track time i am going to get rid of the whole pcm system and rewire the car with a painless system. are the engine compartments different in a 6cyl? I can already see i am going to have cut the overhang of the fire wall out so i can get my dominator carb to clear. are there going to be any other clearence issues? Also i am wondering how to get hedders in such a small engine compartment? I was going to takethe ladder ber route b/c thats what i have on my nova and works so goodit always goes streight and hooks hard. Would the stock set up be better then the ladder bars?

thanks

Check out the BBC/SBC section. There is a lot more info in that section about this swap. I would get a clean, straight 6cyl car, and just get the proper tubular K-member. You will find the part number to headers that will work in the other section as well. Also, I would shy away from using a ladder-bar setup in this particular situation. With the proper components, the stock style suspension setup can be made to work very well. Unless of course you fall into the catagory of believing you need 15" wide tires under this car. Unless you are reaching for low 8s or even 7s, don't bother.

4 link is no way better than a ladderbar it just offers more adjustability. ladderbars hit and shock the tires harder.
