Default Blackwing SLP LID Filter Replacment?

For those who have the SLP factory installed Blackwing air lid.
I just now looked at my paper filter (15,000 miles) and it needs replaced.
I bought a WIX filter and it is "thicker" than the orginal paper filter.
The WIX filter fits but the lid is harder to snap back on because the WIX filter is thicker. I went to SLP's web site and all I can find is a KN reusable filter for like $50.00. What are you using?

I was told they stopped making/carrying the Blackwing filters. I went with a K&N. I couldn't find any others I liked as I didn't want just a plain paper filter.

Use K&N. It works great.

I'm against oiled type filters, and found a pretty small
pressure-drop difference testing the Blackwing against
other paper type filters (I also found Purolator a hair
better than Fram). Not a killer difference in the big
scheme of things, the filter was insignificant compared
to the drop in the stock lid (meaning an insignificant
fraction of 5-10HP).

I'm also against oil on my air filter. The reason is this oil over time will give off a oil film that will coat the sensor in the MAF. This will cause your computer to not get the correct air flow reading.

Can you prove this or is it just your "armchair engineer" opinion??? How many years has K&N been in business? If it was that bad do you still think they'd be around? Do you think everyone in their brother would be making oiled filters as well?

It's GM's opinion as well, and there are enough folks who've
had problems that go away with a cleaning to make the
explanation credible. You can believe whoever you like. But
the "snake oil" salesman is at the bottom of my list.

K&N has been selling oiled filters since before cars had hot
wire MAF sensors. If you goop it up and it does you wrong
it's not K&N's problem, the check's already cleared. The
performance aftermarket is perfectly content to sell you
stuff that doesn't work, barely works, works temporarily
or blows **** up. See it anywhere you care to look. Be
sure to put a GMAF and a Tornado after the greasy sponge
for that ultimate added horsepower and fuel economy. The
ad copy is more reliable than the user base on those too.
Though I hear a blue greasy sponge is better than the
purple one. Yeah.

I have a brand new Blackwing paper filter left. If anyone wants it, let me know.

I too have read about problems with MAF sensors resulting from the oil buildup over time from lubbed up filters. I'm not a "credible," source to say if its good or not, but I would stick with air being the only thing going in my air intake.
