Default 4th Gen Camaro: Muscle Car or Sports Car?

Read post before answering pole

What do think a 4th gen camaro "looks" more like, sports car or muscle car, this has been a long standing internal debate for myself

know I know the camaro is traditionaly a muscle car... 1st gen was extremely muscular...2nd was a muscular boat jk...

now for the 3rd gen, it was the ugly step child (no offence to anyone that likes them but that seems to be the general consinsis (sp) ) dont really consider it either muscle or sport

but for the 4th gen i really cant figure this one out for the most part i feel they gave it the look of a sports car except for the wide a$$...

Muscle car, a sports car is the cars like Corvettes, Porsches, etc. Exotic/supercars are Lamborghini, Ferrari, Pagani etc.

Sports cars are generally all-around jack of all trades cars with their biggest purpose being fun to drive factor with little thought given to practicality. Like Vettes, 350Z's, Mustangs, etc. that are fun, but inherently useless for daily driving, picking things up, etc.

Camaros exist to go forward very fast on a budget. You can daily drive them since they have a back seat of sorts.

I'd call them more of a Pony car, since they are very muscular, but sleeker, smaller, lighter, and handle better than the fire-breathing dinosaurs of yore.

I voted sports car too... question was what the car LOOKS like too you. I don't think the 4th gen camaros, especially non-SS's, look very muscular. Much more modern and "sporty" than a a fire-breathing, loping, mean-*** SOB muscle car. I'd call it a modern muscle car, because of what it is(V8, RWD, solid axle rear, etc.), but to me, it just doesn't look the part.

camaro came about to lay the smack down on the mustang, which was a pony car. a muscle car is a two door midsized coupe (i.e. chevelle and gto, to include new gto). so by DEFINITION it is a pony car.............

I see it as kind of a progression.

The old school big block cars were clearly all muscle, then the L98/TPI was kinda the same thing but the body looked a bit more modern. The LT1 was basically an augmentation of the sbc, still sounded a lot like that so it retained a lot of the muscle feel and of course the body was changed again to a more modern design. Then the LS1 was a major change, quieter and newer, with more refined manners.

So I kinda see each generation becoming less the traditional muscle car and more of a sports car. But I still wouldn't classify even the ls1 as a sports car per se, because when you say sports car you typically think of cars like the vette and not really the f-body.
