Is this model real? Basically to me, its the camaro version of the C5R, but i have never seen anything like it. Guy claims 69 were made and this is #55. Ive seen the Intimidator camaro, in which only 3 of those were made and are EXTREMELY rare. This one is a new to me, wish i had that damn engine!
So, is this BS? HP ###'s BS? Anyone have additional info?
PS, the stripes are ugly.

dude, thats a real zl1 and yes there were only 69 made. some had more upgrades than others but yes they are know as the supercar. they were in many car magazines. the dyno #'s are real and all the aftermarket stuff came on the car from the showroom. i dont know how many, but a lot of them had the hockey stick stripes. i think they look badass especially since they are on the zl1. oh yes, it is real. do your research, you can find info all day.

it says in the description that it used to have 335/30ZR-18 and 365/40ZR-18 tires on the car. there is no way that he could have those sizes on there. a 365 size tire is bigger than the rear tires on the viper.

Wow...does ANYBODY on her know ANYTHING about Camaros? GMMG did 69 ZL1 Supercars that were tributes to the original 69 ZL1's that were made. GMMG got approval from GM to do the conversion on the cars. The base motor was the 400HP LS6. The Phase II was the same engine with a different cam, heads and headers rated at 475HP. Phase III was the top dog with the C5R based motor making 600HP. There were suspension mods and options for hockey sticks, manta stripes, houndstooth interiors, roll bars, wheels, custom paint colors. Prices started at about $75K for a base ZL1 to over $115K for a fully loaded car. This guy should have gotten the dyno sheet with his car showing RWHP. He states the exhaust is a Borala??? It has GMMG's chambered exhaust. A lot of this guys story sounds like BS. The cars are real though. You should get out more and read some car magazines. SEVERAL ZL1's have been featured in different mags in 2002-2003 time.

Kids like that make all of us look like immature, ill-informed, buck-toothed, red neck idiots. What a FN idiot. Berger sold all the Dick Harrell's not all the ZL-1s. 0-60 in 2.7 seconds? My God, what a fool.
770 rwhp from a NA, LS6 head 427? Those tire sizes? Who TF makes those sizes?
Jesus Christ after reading that **** I'm giving mine away to the next jerk I see!
And if some punk post **** like that about the DH I'll take a contract out on their ***!

I went on the power tour and actually have seen one of the Phase 3 cars dyno 759 rwhp!!!!!!!!! This is no lie......I cannot remember the tire sizes but I believe the wheel wells are tubed (the tires are FREAKIN HUGE). The car is no lie though it is the most amazing camaro ever built! http://www.geocities.com/nacogdoches...kclub/zl1.html Pic of the zl1 at the bottom.
PS goto GMMG website http://www.gmmginc.net/ take a look around!!

yea ZL1's are no joke. I have a video of one going 9.55@144. they made 69 of them back in 1969 and then they brought them back in 2002 in memory of fred Gibb and vince piggins.

Getgone - the DH should be ready next month. I don't claim to be an expert on the ZL-1 but I've known Lamar Walden who was given the first '69 free one, #51, for a long time and I stayed in touch with Matt for months while he was waiting for the green light from GM. GMMG is just 30 minutes or so from me so I've killed a few hours there.
Matt's sight is good for info. The only things he doesn't know is who did what to the cars after he delivered them. I'm sure most stayed as delivered.
myc4ltwon - what is that ZL-1 that ran 9.55 got in it? Looks like it's got some fat slicks on the back and a **** pot full of power. We pulled 757rwhp on Lamar's dyno jet with a patched up tune and 2 psi. They got a little better tune on it, still not on the money, and it was virtually undriveable on the street.
We figured with a proper tune we could get 1,000 hp with 8psi. That weight to HP ratio is about 3.3 to 1. I don't think we could have ever gotten it hooked without tubbing the rear fender wells and God knows what else.
The big difference in my car is the .090 C5R race heads. GM only made about 30 sets of these. A facing friend of Lamar's was able to get us a set. The flow is unbelievable and add some serious HP.
Lamar pulled the SC last week and is making the other changes to go back to NA now. We'll stay with a solid roller, elec. water pump, no A/C etc. so it will still be plenty fast. I'll post some dyno numbers next week.

I was referring to the original poster...not you. I know the guy is full of BS. He took pics of the car at a dealers lot and is claming it as his own. All the pics are in the same location.

I have stood no more than 2 foot away from a ZL1 at the Hot Rod Power Tour when it rolled through Arlington, Texas i have several pics, i also saw the Dick Harrel super car, needless to say i **** myself twice that day not to mention the Harley with a 502 planted under the seat! It was a great car show. If you have the chance to go to one definitly go it's totally worth it.

The ZL1 that ran 9.55 wasnt one of the 69 produced. It was a '94 or '95 Camaro (I believe) which later had an updated nose put on it, but sports a 572 tall deck BBC. It made the rounds as a show-and-go car and was damn quick. Though not as quick as the 604ci Mustang Ford put together at about the same time.

The caption that says 'this one ran 9.55' in the above picture appears to be a GMMG ZL-1 and not the show/race car BB that GM built.
One of the major complaints and probably why so many of these cars were allowed to be returned to GM (something that is not allowed) was the plain Jane looks of the '69 ZL-1. That's why Matt decided to spice up the 02s with stripes, wheels, SS hood and deck and visible badges.
