LS1 F-bodies have a rev limiter set to 6100 rpms, but that is seperate from the speed limter based on the rating ot the tires. Z-rated is limited in the ECM at 160 MPH, which is the highest MPH allowed with factory programming. I have changed these setting on my vehicles with HPTuners.

How do you know if your car came from the factory with z-rated tires? Is there a code on the door sticker? And if it didnt then what would the speed limiter be?

I know because my window sticker says it, I am the original owner of my car. If you are not, then you should be able to verify it on the door sticker (not sure though). If the vehicle does not have Z-Rated tires, it will have a 115-120 limiter. I have yet to see a non-Z-Rated car yet in my tuning ventures. I do know that trucks are limited to 98 MPH.

I think most of them are governed to 158. Thats about where my buddies Z tapped out at. I don't know what mine was, I had it programmed out before I ever broke 150.

And my truck stops at 100, so did my 2000 Z71 I had before. Stock GTP was 126 , till I replaced the PCM .

It was to my knowledge that ls1 f-body cars rev limiter are set to 6250 and the governor are set for around 158.

You guys should come to germany. Its nothing to see mercedes, audi, and bmw doing 250 kilometers on the autobahn. By the way thats right around 150mph. I know I do it all the time in rental cars.

well i buried the speedo in my car and hit the rev limiter in 5th gear. i still felt the car pulling when the speedo was buried, so i know i went passed 170mph.
