If I get a short shifter on my t-56 (01camaro SS) do i need to also make modifications to my tranny? will it hurt the tranny alone?
I am planning on getting a hurst or a pro 5.0 are those good choices?thanks

Go with the Pro 5.0, don't waste your time with the Hurst. I had a Hurst shifter stock, and I thought it sucked. Very imprecise, not a very short throw, and always missed 3rd gear (either hit the gate or ended up in 5th).
The Pro 5.0 is just a much better shifter. Its got a shorter throw, much more precise (none of the rubbery feeling that the Hurst had), and almost impossible to miss 3rd.

I want very short throw and it sounds like the pro has it but in that link it says that it makes a rough noise. i am very bitchy about noises. what should I get? I race a few of my buddies w/ auto ls1's we come close most of the time( I know I can beat them), but when I shift I give the that second to catch up and at the end I end up paying for it. I thought if I had a short shifter I would be faster in my shifts.
