This thread was screwed up by everyone posting in it a long time ago.

Damn impressive with the 175 in that LT1 how freakin' big of a cam did you shove in that thing?

A4's have a damn good top speed.

If a McLaren F1 can hit 200mph, why can't a camaro? Just bump up the power. You all talk as if 200mph is breaking the sound barier.

Its all about gearing, how fast it will take you to get there depends on HP and vehicle weight.

Interesting thread, what have we learned.
stock these cars will do 170 w/330rwhp.
500rwhp will get you to 200
850rwhp will get you there in 1 mile.
2000hp will get you there in 1/4.

I would say they are all around grate cars.
and everyone and there mom has a vett.

Nope it's all about gearing, engine rpm and tire size as well. The hp/vehicle weight will determine how fast your get there.

Will an A4 even be able to pull 200 in overdrive? With the 3.23's bc i know that 135mph is bout the tops of 3rd so when it shifts to 4th or OD then it can go 65mph more after shifting from 3rd to 4th I know ive been 155mph but i can't remember what RPM i was at.

While it is possible with some extra power, I would look into some aerodynamic improvements to keep the front tires planted on the ground. I have found that these cars get light on the front tires at higher speeds (especially with a cross wind) and that is not exactly confidence inspiring. And yes there was a lot of crap in here with a few well thought out and researched responses.

FADI, what do you have up your sleeve??? Now you have me wondering what you are up to with this line of questioning. Your Z06 not enough?

I hit 155 in 5th with my z28. I was at around 4500. Im goin to dyno my car this weekend, I have K&N FIPK, Custom 3" single dynoma exhaust 160* stat. So anywyas 155 and the car was still pulling pretty nice. Then again the car was pretty much sitting on the floor at the time, with the Auto X setup where my car is slammed to the ground LOL

It's close enough not to quibble. Their governed at 162 and for the most part dyno 300rwhp stock. No reason to believe ungoverned with 330 they wouldn't do about that.

I would say stock they can go between 170-175 and with only bolt-ons 175-185 mph.

So yes it is possible
THERE IS NO WAY YOUR CAR DID 205MPH. FIRST OF ALL YOUR CAR WONT DO 188MPH. THE ONLY WAY IS IF IT IS NOT STREET LEGAL AND JOHN FORCE IS DRIVING IT.

I think a stck C5 was drag limited at 172mph IIRC...so it seems unlikely a stock F-body could run over 170mph.

Why not? The most stock C5 go in Germany on the 177-185 mph-range on the GPS! My stock A4 Formula go up to 52xx rpm with 3.23 and new 245/50/16 and is in the 175 mph range on the calculator

Gear calculators are useful tools, but they don't take into account wind resistance, rolling resistance, and drag.

I've never heard of a stock C5 going over 175 in real testing, I have heard of their windows being sucked out of the sill/seal at 170, just under their top speed. I'm sure with a tailwind those speeds are not out of the question.

All video testing I have seen shows the C5 maxxing at the 172-174 range.

163.5 for the Aston Martin DB7

175 for the Porshe 911.

177.6 for the Ferrari 355 F1.

179.4 for the Lotus Esprit V-8 Turbo

192.6 mph for the Dodge Viper GTS thats a 450 hp 490 ft/lbs torque 1998 model.

No way the Z28 tops out at 170-175 stock and 175-185 with bolt-ons.

I agree with what your saying, 170mph with 330rwhp is possible, but no more than that.

98 Formula, I couldn't tell jack from that German website, sorry.
