Default Just bought a 1989 IROC Z

I just bought this car off Ebay and I have a couple of concerns but overall I think the car is in real good shape. I'll see how well it does when I drive it from Florida to North Carolina. Click on the link and give opinions on price, the car itself or any suggestions you might have about the car.

Me personally I dont know if i would of have went thru with it. I would rather have the TPI setup. The reason the gauges are not working is because of them getting rid of the TPI. The ECM drives most of the gauges.

What are you wanting to do with the car primarily?

I'm going to restore it to original little by little and drive it some. I'm also thinking about a motor swap but I don't know about that yet.

The car looks almost perfect on the exterior, interior needs a little work but really not that bad.

No more t-tops for me, that's the only thing I have against that iroc sorry. Other then that great buy, I love these cars. Just looking at them makes you say damn, right off the show room floor these cars like mean as hell!!! ps I wanted a 92 hard top z28 g92 5 spd 305. nice car good luck with her, later

That color is called "Jamaican Yellow" (I believe) and is a fairly rare color. You got the better PBR brakes ( first year) and the wheels present a bit of a problem. The rear offset is different from the front offset. To rotate the tires , you'll have to have them broke down from the rims and remounted on the other wheels.

thats my car, i dont remeber putting it on ebay, tho
jk,
i have one just like it. but its 305 less now,
i would recommend a lsx swap or a 383 vortec head, motor
witha carb, or turbo the tpi
even a 5.3 lsx will have more power than a stock 350 sbc,
im just biased to lsx
congrats

Actually its called Yellow Gold( lot of research on this one ) and was offered on the 85-87 models. My car was originally blue and I was thinking about changing it back but the yellow looks really good

I'd say thats a pretty good pick up. It would be hard to find a 3rd gen for less than that in that kind of shape.

I was actually surprised at how good it looked when I picked it up. Buying it off Ebay I expected the worse but the guy actually refunded some of the money on the car and paid me $215 for a new headliner.

No this one isn't rare. The Yellow Gold was only available from 85-87 from what I've read. This car was originally blue and I was to change it back but I really like the yellow.
