Meanist...Nastiest? I dunno, you got a lot of suggestions here.

If it was me, I would just go with a Magnacharger on a LS2 with a slight head/cam upgrade. That would be a car nice enough for a daily driver but still quick enough to beat on most of the cars in my neighborhood.

I can't make up my mind for my 68 camaro. my two choices are a 370 iron block with a big single turbo or a 500 +/- BBC with a pro charger and blow thru carb setup. 4l80 with either motor and a 9" out back. Gonna hopefully hook up to the ground with leaf springs and caltrac bars. I'm leaning more toward the BBC with procharger just because they sound so badass. But i would love the reliabilty of the efi setup and gas mileage of the LQ.

I'm a bottom-feeder sort so I'd say strip a cable throttle, HD truck
of its 6.0 / 4L80E powertrain (I hate drive by wire) and put some
sort of blower on it. That's more than any street tire will handle
and pretty near bulletproof. Spend the money you save vs the
more popular aluminum blocks on go-fast cam, heads & intake etc.

Hell, why not just build it up like the Gottlieb's "Big Red". Then you would be able to turn left and right with the best, AND still smoke Poopras from a dig or roll!! Only problem is that this would take the entire yearly budget of some small countries.

Either an LSx or a over cubed SBC.

How about a ZZ502? I'm not sure if the 572 will add any complications, isn't it a tall deck motor?

those 572's are RUTHLESS, a guy around here has one in his 67 skylark. It's a beast, the torque is awsome.

Here's a pic of it.

That looks like a 502.. don't the 572s have the nicer (taller) valve covers?

Anyways, I vote LS2.. best "bang for the buck" if you want to go with a crate engine. The fly-by-wire deal is easy to make work as well.

Actually, for a drag car I would go big block.. the 572 or the new ZL1 engine that GM is going to re-introduce in a couple of months, but they are only making 427 of them

Is this one going to be injected again?? (I'm talking about the limited edition "Ram-Jet" GMPP injected one from a couple of years ago, NOT the original '69-'70 carbed version.)

How about a DZ302 with Twin Turbos? Keep it nostalgic looking, but add some EFI.....
Twin gt37 R's would work nice.. 8000 rpm and 30 lbs of boost..... hmmmm....

Winner!

which motor would have a higher hp/fun : dollar ratio. Keep in mind both need to be street motor's.
Big block with maybe a procharger.
370 iron motor with a turbo.

I would say. . .an old school style big block Like a 396, 402, 427 , or a built small-block like a 350, 383. Something like that. . .Keep everything in old-school style.. ..
