Casting Call - Camaro Performers Magazine
I'm looking around for Camaros of all years. Nothing in particular, but vehicles that might be interesting to shoot for Camaro Performers Magazine.
1967 through 2002. If you think your Camaro should be considered for a potential magazine feature, post up a couple photos and info about the car. Please do not PM or email me with requests. I prefer to check them here in this thread.
If you have a friend with a killer Camaro, let him know about this thread.
All vehicles need to be in the Houston area, or willing to travel to Houston for the shoot. There is no deadline, as I'll be shooting cars all year long.
Please keep this thread on topic and do not have discussions or quote pics here. No comments about vehicles are necessary, the Editor and I will make final calls regarding vehicle selection.
Thanks!
Tony

My 1989 Camaro Iroc-Z. Got this car as my 16th birthday present. It was in rough shape, but i spent all winter cleaning it up into a presentable car. 17 now, its got brand new paint (I prepped it, dad painted it), Its got a 4th gen dash that i put in, along with a 4th gen console and seats. The headliner my dad and i fiberglasses and covered with ultra suede for a custom look. Underneath its got a 4th gen stainless magnaflow exhaust system, a 3.42 geared disc braked rear end, coupled to a LS1 Aluminum driveshaft.
I put a cam from an LT1 in the stock 305 last winter, and it layed down 209rwhp, 287rwtq. Ive just sold the stock motor out of it and ive got a 5.3L LSx that will be going in within the next couple of weeks, along with a fresh paint in the engine bay. Ive also got LS1 brakes to be mounted on the front. I made up all the peices for the brakes myself and they will be mounted on when the new motor is put in.
It would be more then a dream come true for me to be able to have my car in a magazine. Actually, the car will be on display at "Speedorama" in the toronto automive building from Feburary 8 - 10th!
Here are a couple pictures.
*note: I do have a-pillars on, steering wheel on now

pardon the non-professional pictures. I dont know if you are willing to fly out to so cal, ill even pay your way (if need be) and ill bet you can shoot for lots of cool Camaros out here in one trip.
Let me get started on the history: In 2001 JR Granatelli received an order for 5 Granatelli Signature series Camaros from Matco Tools that were to be awarded to their top franchise owners. The first one (mine) was built at his shop in Oxnard, CA and then shipped to Arizona. Two more cars were shipped to the winners in stock form, and the parts were shipped to them. the last two ever never delivered (the winners wanted other prizes). As a result, mine is the only one singed both on the air lid AND on the drivers door sill. It is also #1 of 3 as a result.
Now about the Granatelli Signature Series Camaro: in 1995 he built them on an order basis and they came with full suspension and a paxton supercharger. after the 4th gen got the LS1 he stopped offering this package until he got the order from Matco tools. These cars did not come with the supercharger because of two reasons. (1) JR is no longer CEO of Paxton superchargers; (2) Paxton does not make an LS1 Camaro kit. These three Camaros are the only LS1 GSS Camaros that were built.
I bought mine from a used lot on 12/31/06. The dealership knew nothing of the cars history. The car had 9700 miles on it and showed no signs of any wear (interior or exterior). The car currently has 16k miles.
I can offer more info if you are interested.
this engine shot is not the most current one but it gives you an idea.
