Default Does this sound right?

stock 2002 ls1 a4 trans 3.08 rear 3400 lb car.
It has a wait4me tune.

It just seems like it haunches down and stalls a bit before it is shifting into 4th gear at WOT around 100 mph. Is this normal behavior for this setup. It almost feels like it is bumping the rev limiter just above 6k and then shifts and starts pulling again.

can't really hear it to well. How is your trans fluid level, I know these 4L60e's are very sensititve to fluid level.

The shifts sound soft to me. Also unless you have some really short tires, you should be well above 100 at 6 grand in 3rd gear. By my calculation with a 25 inch tire at 100 mph you should be at 4250 in 3rd gear. Are you sure your tach is accurate?

Stu my bad, I'm shifting into 3rd not forth. Dumb *** me, according to this calculator
http://www.f-body.org/gears/ using my data 4l60e, (225/60/16) 26.62 dia tire, 3.08 gear, I would be doing 154 mph at 6 k in 3rd gear. I don't thank I have the kahonnas to every see that number in this ride. So in second gear at 6k I'm running 95 mph. That is about were it starts to shift and is in 3rd gear at about 6200 rpm and drops the rpm down. It feels to me like it is struggling to shift into 3rd at WOT. I'll double check my fluid level in the trans.

Let us know what you find. Sounds like you need some 3.73 or 3.90 gears! I love my 3.80-1. Are you running the stock converter?

22 thus far but when I check it I had been ******* it alot. It might get a little better if I could keep my foot out of it but that's hard to do.

Might get a bit better with some tuning.. and a lighter foot (but that might never happen .. LOL)...

I have 4.11:1 w/t56 and I get 23+mpg at 70-75mph at 2k rpm..

The final drive in a t56 is .62 compared to .70 in the A4. If I went with those gears my mpg would suffer for sure.

With my 4L60E, 3.80 and a 28" tire I have gotten as high as 27 mpg with cruise control at 65 mph, 25-26 is typical. AC drops mine about 1 mpg. I am 2100 at 65.

It was low trans fluid. It is now shifting harder and at 95 mph at 6k. Thanks for the help.
