L99/4L80E 67 Chevelle
I've been exchanging posts with John and Kevin on their builds so I thought I'd introduce mine. I recently purchased a '67 Malibu that is a plain jane car from my brother . It's a 74,000 mile 283 - 2bbl/powerglide car. The only option on it is power steering. The goal is to go with pro-touring like suspension and drivetrain but have it still look original other than the wheels (and disc brakes). So far I've mostly been gathering parts.
I'm thinking I'd like to keep the VVT but not sure on the DOD/AFM. The plan is to drive the wheels off of the car so having the DOD/AFM may save some gas.

Looking good , looking at the trans it might no be as difficult as I thought, the higher fitting will be the hardest to get to , the lower one should be no problem. JOHN

Thanks John, I'm sure I'll be asking alot of questions as I get further along.
I'm trying to figure out which oil pan to use. I bought a used F-body pan to use as a core for an S&P modified pan. I kind of like the new one that RetroLSX is offering but it looks taller where the cross member sits than the S&P modified pan. My concern is if I have to raise the engine too much for clearance that will cause more interference with the transmission in the tunnel. How much clearance do you have between your pan and the cross member? If the pan is a little taller near the sump would that cause a problem (i.e. is the clearance about the same front to back or do you have more clearance at the rear of the cross member)?

Originally I was going to put a ZZ3 in the Chevelle that I had in a '60 vette for a short while but I got the bug on the LS motors. So now the ZZ3's on ebay.
Kevin thanks for your help. I'm sure I'll be asking alot of questions.

The sump part is about 1/2" higher than the bottom of the crossmember , there is about 3/4" to 1" between the top of crossmember and the pan, my trans is the lowest part of the whole setup.I'm without a camera right now . when I get it I can give some pics and exact measurements.JOHN

It has some rust in the typical places. It was originally repaired in the mid 70's and painted with enamel. It was originally white with blue interior. It neads the panel under the rear window replaced, the rear quarters have some rust behind the wheel wells, the RH rear quater lip has some rust, and a small spot on the RH lower front fender. The floor pans, trunk pan, doors, trunk lid, etc all seem to be in great shape. It has 74,000 original miles on it. My brother bought it in the early 70'ss and his wife drove it up until the early 90's.
A question I have is whether or not to replace the quarters or patch the originals. I need to do some exploration to see what I really have.
LH Rear Wheel Well (it's been repaired in the lower quarter behind the wheel well)
RH Rear Wheel Well (was repaired around the lip and lower quarter behind the wheel well)
RF Fender (hasn't been repaired but rusting through)
