cts oil pan vs fbody oil pan...
im using the CTS oil pan for my swap, (left) and it seems to work better than the F body pan for my swap. the main difference the makes the CTS pan work so well is that it is more round in the front of the sump. on the F body pan the corners on the front of the sump were the first to hit the cross member in the Chevelle.

in order to get this pan to work how i want it, i have to raise the motor about 1/2" (i used a 1/2" piece of plywood as a spacer while test fitting to get the right height). i also have stretch out the transmission tunnel to get the motor and tranny to go into the car. (I just cut a few lines where i needed the tunnel to expand and smacked it with a hammer.
by raising the motor 1/2" i get better ground clearance with the oil pan and am able to move the motor further forward, away from the firewall. by the way, It is a pain in the butt to get the motor to squeeze down into the car with the CTS pan, and the tranny attached to it.

Yup.. been there, done that on my 71... one time I got it in for a mock trial... i then removed the trans and bell house 1st then removed the engine to get them back out... LOL
That is how I punched hole in my AC/Heater box.. kicking and pushing the engine down... LOL. That turned out to be a good thing, cause after that, I removed the box, cut it down and re-filbergassed it back and gained a 1/2" between the box and the head/headers.

ya i about got mine stuck in there by forcing the motor and trans down in there, luckily i stopped before i got too far. I order the oil pick up tube girdle to make sure i dont loose any oil pressure at the pick up O ring. once this part gets here, im gonna put the pan back on and try test fitting again.
