Start of my DD 240sx lq9 swap.
Ok, before I get too far into all the other pics here's a link to the history of the car.
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3339054/1995-nissan-240sx
I haven't started the dissassembly or anything yet, but I have a pile of parts setting around and a excel sheet with everything I need to get still! Hopefully I will be able to start doing the hard work here around May, but I will update as I get more parts and as the build goes.
I'm looking at putting an LQ9 dbw setup into my 95 240sx with a 4l60e with around 400 to the wheels. So, far I have got a good idea of what cam and everything I need to get the results I want.
Here's a pic of the l92 heads off a Pontiac G8 with 12k on them that I picked up for 300 on ls1tech.
the ls3 pull off intake with the 42lb injectors for 275 off ebay, looks brand new. With a LS2 90mm dbw tb ($175 used off a 2005 GTO)
Some sitckers for after the swap, probably going to put one on my trunk opposite of the silvia badge.
The new melling high volume oil pump.
The corvette fpr/filter setup with connectors.
HD timing set from a guy in the forums on ls1tech.com
The corvette/cts-v style pulley (dorman $70) and oem stretch bolt for the LS3 waterpump ($118 on ebay) and the CTS-V accessory drive I will be using. I used the ls3 pump because it lines up with the SR radiator.
LS3 waterpump
The C6 manifolds that I picked up for $60 the $20 s&h.
Some new pics my pac 1518 valve springs, ls3/l98 offset rocker stands, manley hardened 7.400 push rods, and my complete cts-v accessory drive kit

Looking good, I think you got some solid deals on those parts. Much cheaper than when I was pricing them out a few months ago. Keep the parts pile going!

Cool, I will def pm you if I run into any issues! It's nice to know I'm not the only 240 owner in GA. Here in north Ga I almost never see 240's. I see about 100 Mustangs a day though.

Yeah, I'm using my GI bill and unemployment to go to school, so I don't work.... Thus giving me plenty of time to bargain shop. Ebay and the forums here have been very helpful with finding parts.

I'm in south GA and I see the same. Its all fox bodies here too. I have even been asked if my car is a Mustang LOL. There is an Import Alliance show at the Georgia Dome on April 17th. I'm going to try to make it with my car if you are interested in coming down. I'm sure it will be the only L92 powered blue S14 there lol.

what made you choose the lq over the ls? im looking at doing the same thing to my 91 s13 so i was just wondering if there was any benefit to going one way or another? either way...good luck with the build

Ok, went and actually picked up the engine today.... Turns out they wanted to sneak a 48' tractor trailer into my culdesack. So, I went to the dock to get it. It only took about and hour and a half to strip it down. Next week into the shop hopefully to get the short block gone through.

Good luck with your build! For me mostly it was a simple cost issue. The lq9 was $1500 complete VS the $3000+ for the aluminum block LSx motor. Again it's all personal preferance. Racers always want the lighter alum. block. I DD my car and could care less about the extra wt up front. I have an extra 90lbs in back with my sound sytem anyways lol so it offsets.

Just another pic, painted my valve covers. It's dupicolor metallic red they look better in person than in picture, less flat. Nothing fancy, also painted the exposed parts of the bolts with brushed aluminum caliper paint I had laying around.

Well, due to the gas prices jumping up so much I'm to going to forgo the 4l60 for now and I picked up a GTO T56 for $1200 from a yard locally with 6mo warranty complete. So, I still need to get a shifter from an Fbody and replace the shift ball link in the tail housing and call it good. I will also probably be getting the ls7 clutch kit from one of the vendors here.
Anyways that's all for now!

Ok, here are some pics of my new-to-me 2004 GTO T56 with 90k. Supposedly these have better gearing and the triple cone syncros and are much more durable and sought after than the F-body t56. I paid a total of $1200 with a 6mo warranty from a place through car-parts.com. This was MUCH cheaper than the forums and eBay.
I have also got about 70% of the wiring done today it's been de-pinned and all of the pink and orange are labeled. I just need to test fit on the engine for proper routing and extend the drivers injectors, alternator, and coil harness like 2 feet to get to reach and set right on the LS3 intake.

Ok, here's a few pics of the harness reworked and extended. I have to add more length to the alt wire since it's going to be a low mount alt vs the high mount truck style. Then there's a pic of my trans mount from otto. I will have my engine mounts next Wednesday-ish.
There's a little bit of black stuff stuck to it I need to peal off from where I painted it.
The only wires still left on the harness are for cruise, diagnostic port, and the 4fuse fuse block. I will probably need to extend my wiper wires and tac module plug as well, but I will do that once it's in the car and I can see how much to add.

Harness is finally done, minus the stuff for cruise being hooked up. That will get done once the engine is in the car.... It's not essential to the car running so it can wait.

Here's a pic of my wilwood kit I got from one of the vendors on silviav8. Motor mounts are dropped off and should be done on Wednesday and I'm left looking for a tuner and waiting for a few to email me back.
