I am taking the LS1 M6 out of my 2000 SS and putting it into
a 1989 ford mustang coupe. I dropped the engine out today and left the ECM and harness attached and didn't cut anything. Who have you used and recommend to modify my harness, or should I just buy a new one???

I used Speartech in 2006 for my first LS1/4L60e swap. John is great for support.
$750 total with computer and harness mods.

I used www.lsx-harness.com this time for my LY6/T-56 swap into my 442.
$400 total for the harness and ECM program with shipping.

I can't comment on the 2nd vendor because I'm still waiting on my harness.
But there were several good reviews.

I considered Wait4Me for a budget harness modification
but ironically they lived up to their name. I could never get a hold of the guy.
Tried 3x and always got his wife and no returned calls. Didn't feel comfortable
in case I had an issue.

There' also www.lt1swap.com who does harnesses IIRC
He posted a TON of free information as well for the DIY'er.
I would have given him a shot as well.

I originally built my own, but as it came down to starting it there were a few issues and they were being difficult to solve.
I eventually called Jon at PSI (a sponsor on this site).

I am a wiring dummy, and Jon answered all of my questions right away, even on a Sunday morning! My car fired right up just 2 nights ago.

PSI is worth it for the knowledge and tech support alone. If I were to build another car, my first call would be to PSI. Right price, awesome service and a nice part.

Ive used

Current Performance Wiring for your harness and programming i believe its going to start at 550. currentperformance.com

Foxlinders in AZ, but they build each harness to the engine on a stand, so you would need to bring the engine to them. But they have the best looking harness because of that and they do custom programming cheap even tuning to E85. And before you take your engine you watch it run on the test stand.

I would consider the DIY approach. There's plenty of infor on this site in the FAQ section for all the info you would need.

I absolutely nothing about wiring before starting the project and now, I feel I have a pretty good feel on how things operate. There really isn't much you have to do becides provide power to the harness.

If you keep the current harness, make sure to NOT cut as much as possible. There are three plugs on the fender that are key. Also, try to snake out the plugs under the dash and through the firewall. Those are nice to have. Make sure you grab a pigtail of the corresponding plug to make wiring easier.

I had a good experience with customer service at Current Performance and was happy with everything until I tried to get it wired up. All the wires were there but the "3 wire hook up" was anything but that. Fuses had no way of getting power, harness grounds were not connected to the computer and I think some of the splices are loose because I can't get reliable power to the fuel pump. I have a friend doing the work to make it run but whats the point in paying $500 for a harness mod if I need to pay someone else another $500 to trouble shoot and fix what should have been done right the first time?

I am going to order one from PSI. He said there is a good market to sale my original uncut harness, why is that and any idea what it's worth?
