'01 Z28 donor - LS1 RWD HHR Panel
I'm in Riverside CA. I'm converting an '08 HHR Panel to rear wheel drive using a '01 Z28 as a donor. Will be having lots of tech questions soon.

V8 HHR update
OK here is what I have so far. The drive train is almost finished, the brake and steering mods are almost complete. Still need to tub the rear wheel wells and drive shaft hump. I'll be using the entire '01 Camaro wiring harness from bumper to bumper.

Yeah I know this will never be a "legal" car in California. The smog test won't be too bad.....not legal but not too expensive. Smog will only be 1 of the illegal things about this car. If it get to be too much of a hassle I will register it in Arizona.

This is badass! I owned an HHR SS for about 3 months and loved it to death! All my friends, coworkers, and families gave me a hard time about having a "PT Cruiser" but that thing had 300/330 and damn good steering. Glad to see someone putting an LS in such a neat platform!
So you went with the LS1/4L60E? Any modifications to them after that? Do you have more photos?

Update Pics
Here are some more pics of the project. The engine is getting torn down now for a complete rebuild with heads and cam. The trans is in the shop getting a full rebuild, 2200 stall converter, Corvette servo and a shift kit.

The work is progressing slowly. The trans is done, the engine will be done in a few weeks. The forward sheet metal section is done , now it's on to the wheel tubs and fuel cell install. I'll be installing the complete z28 wiring harness. Hope to have it running in the summer.

I like the car, also your work looks to be excellent. I clipped a hhr as it was a rollover. I ended up only using the dash foward & front structure. not much to these cars.

Update
Spending time installing the engine wiring harness. Since I'm using the entire Camaro wiring, I'll be simply relocating some of the items such as the ecu and the bcm to new spots. Hope it isn't too difficult.
The engine is complete. Here is a breakdown of the engine build.
2001 Z28 5.7 block , complete machine service
New crank, rods, pistons, bearings, oil pump
Comp cam, Comp lifters, Yella Terra rockers and Manton pushrods.
Texas Speed PRC 227 heads
FAST 102 intake manifold with Nick Williams 102 throttle body.
