94 Jeep YJ swap 5.3L LM7
Just getting into starting up my 5.3 swap into a 92 YJ. I know a few have done this swap before and I have been trying to dig through all of the different forum around the web. Just got a LM7 5.3L, it is out of a 2004 Avalanche according to the tag. The transmission is a 4l60e 4x4 from a 2006Silverado. I know I can't use the truck headers, will a LS3 header fit and hopefully work for my application. Sorry if this seems like a basic question, but kinda new to these engines.

I have read that one, a few times. Especially the sections on the exhaust, and wiring, and transfer case issue. It is a great read. Though it didn't quite answer my issue on if a LS3 exhaust manifold will fit on a LM7 since he was able to use a C6 manifold. If I have read things right the C-6 was a 6.0 and the LS3 is a 6.2.

The exhaust manifolds should bolt up fine if that's what you are asking, as far as fitting in frame and clearing everything i couldn't tell you for sure. But simply if it bolts up to your motor you should be fine, ls1 ls2 ls3 ls6 lq4 5.3 all should have same header flange shape.

The exhaust manifolds should bolt up fine if that's what you are asking, as far as fitting in frame and clearing everything i couldn't tell you for sure. But simply if it bolts up to your motor you should be fine, ls1 ls2 ls3 ls6 lq4 5.3 all should have same header flange shape.
I will try and get some pics up this week. I work 24hr shifts and can't seem to log into here at work but can read posts. Though I did find out that the Jeep is a 92 according to the title. Not that it really matters since it is just a body and frame. I am missing the tach and speedo, so I need to find some aftermarket ones that I can use in my setup, that aren't going to break the bank, especially since it is a little bank.

So after digging through many many forums, I am trying to figure out what is the best way to take care of my VSS for shifting. If it was just for the speedo I would have no issue taking it off of the electronic one on the chevy np231 transfer case. What is the cheapest best route to handle this. Is it where you pull it from modifying the tail housing adapter, and put some sort of a gear and sensor in there, or could it even be done off the ford 8.8 tone ring and sensor?

Ok, I wasn't sure since the I kept reading that in 4L it wouldn't read right. I am not sure why most people don't just use the chevy transfer case, that way you have all chevy parts working together for the drivetrain. My only guess is they want to keep their speedometers. Since I don't have one, it seemed easier to just keep all the same.

I am running a 4l60e, my engine is out of a 2004 avalanche and the transmission is out of a 2006 1500, and the transfer case is out of a 92 sonoma from what I can read on that tag.

Use the 231 with a slipyoke eliminator and a 241 chain. When it breaks sell it to the next guy and get an Atlas.
If your harness and PCM are set up for DBW it's cheaper and easier to use it. The t-case doesn't know or care what kind of throttle body is on the engine.
Truck manifolds dump right on top of the frame. For exhaust, go on Ebay and get a pair of C6 center-dump vette manifolds. Cut the oval flange off and make an oval reducer out of 3" exhaust pipe cut lengthwise. Run the driver side under the oil pan around to the passenger side and exit out the back.
Don't waste your money on headers unless you're building a set of longtubes yourself. The vette manifolds will flow just as well as any of the commercially available shorty/blockhugger universal style headers with small 1.5" primaries.

Not planning on doing much rock crawling, just mainly trail riding, and using the jeep for wintertime commute. I wasn't too worried about a slipyoke eliminator, since currently there are no plans to lift the jeep beyond a 1" body lift and at most 1"-2" on the springs. Going to keep with spring under axle setup as well. And at most a set of 33"s. But probably just 31" tires.
I couldn't find any C6 exhaust manifolds, but I did manage a set of LS3 manifolds that are center dump. I want to look and see once I have everything set in place if there is a way to run it as a dual exhaust and keep the 4 O2 sensors so that doesn't have to be changed. If it would fit I think it would be cool. But I have to wait and see till I get the engine set into place.

Dual exhaust could be possible but might be tough around the t-case.
What are your plans for cooling? All the YJ V8 swaps I've done have used a universal 22x19 radiator with good results.

Pretty much the same thought on cooling, the 3 core aluminum universal radiator. I already have a transcooler from a truck, and still looking for an a/c one. Getting seals for the axles to seal them back up, looks like they all have some seepage. The ford 8.8 is in great shape other than that. All the brake lines came right off really easily for tear down. I am going to reuse the spring perches since they seem to be heavier than anything I have seen online, and I tool the time to make sure, not to hack them up. I will order a set of weld on shock mounts.

I have 98 wrangler with 2000 LS6/4l60e swap. Vss off the 4l60e. Stock speedo using the sender off the swapped in 241R. Novak main shaft conversion and adapter forn the 241R. My first Wrangler swap with a 6.0 I did the 231 with a wide chain mod. Zero problems.
8.8 4:10 posi rear axle swap.
On the TJ routing the exhaust from the left in front of the oil pan to the right side, two one merge all 2.5" pipe to 3" all the way to the back. Large Flow master muffler 3" in and out.
Speedway Motors sells a nice 1 3/4" block hugger header for LS swaps.
5 years so far and zero problems.
Smoked a couple of harley guys from a dead stop. They were very suprised!
Oh and it plows snow well.

Novak stuff is really nice, but it is really expensive too. Tough to use them when you are trying to do the swap on a budget.
