Default 79 Pontiac Bonneville Buick 350 to LM7 swap.

So after my th350 started slipping and the Buick 350 made knocking noises. I decided that it was time to do this swap much sooner then expected. Anyways, I will say that going carbureted was the cheapest way to go. I wanted the car to look as original as possible. I will say finding info on ls swaps for B-body gm cars isn't easy, at least older pontiac b-bodies. One of the biggest problems I ran into was getting the motor mounts in the right place. There were about 3 sets of pre drilled holes but none of them worked out. But once that was sorted out, it was a breeze. For the motor mount bracket on the motor I made an adjustable plate so that I had some wiggle room. The exhaust manifolds I used were the cast iron headers by hooker. I'm sure camaro manifolds would had worked but I couldn't find a pair to save my life. I used the original Quadrajet on the LM7, which gives a mix of great power and fuel eco.

Awesome combo with the quadrajet. Are all the b-body frames similar?

I wanna say that they are all the same other than a few minor differences.

Nice. I love the B-Bodies. Especially the 2 door boxes.
Here's a link to swapping a Carb LS to a 87 Caprice. The mounting of the engine should apply to both EFI and Carb. As far as the engine mount on the K-member, you need to buy Chevy Caprice/Impala 77-90 with a SBC and the mount that attaches to the engine. This link helped my builder install my LQ9 in my 78 Impala coupe. He had never done a b-body LS swap before, but if I did the research, he agreed to do it. http://www.superchevy.com/how-to/eng...ped-ls-engine/

Nice work! You definitely achieved a very close to stock appearance. A guy would have to look twice to catch the swap. How about some pics of the whole car now! Oh, and some times from the jaunt down the strip! Great work man.

@1975delta88
I would have bought some mounts, but for the price and not knowing how things were gonna fit since i used the truck oil pan, i'd rather fabricating some. Either way, everything worked out fine.

That's awesome you were able to make what you have work. I was just providing a source of info for those who want to do a swap on B-Bodys from the other GM Divisions. In theory, this should info should also work for those who want to do this on a 77-84 C-Body (Buick Electra/Park Ave and Olds 98, and Cadillac Deville).
