Cool Turbo Foxbody Build.

Hello all, been lurking on here watching a few builds for awhile and had a bright idea last week to pull my newly built 331 stroker out and go LS.

Figured I would make a build thread to document the progress. I currently do not know how long it will take me to complete this swap.

I have had the car for a little over a year now, car has suspension and some chassis modifications. It should be fairly light as well.

Build Goals:
5.3L
ON3 Kit w/ 78mm
LS1 Intake
LS6 Cam, new springs
Head studs
Microsquirt
TH400 or Glide.

Here is what the car looked like when I purchased it.

After some suspension

We threw in a buddies nitrous 351w and had some fun for awhile while I was building my SBF 331 Stroker.

With a good friends help we ripped off the GT body kit, added the LX bumpers/panels and dropped in my 331.

So today, I started pulling out the SBF and picked up a 5.3L

Looks great. Why an external fuel pump? Can you not just put a more powerful pump in the tank?

I no longer have the factory tank just the aftermarket 10ga cell or I'd do an in tank pump.

Anyone have any experience with a glide and say.. 3.27 gears on the street? Car will mainly see the track as I recently purchased a trailer, but would still like to drive it around on occasion.

Also thinking the car is going to be alot quicker now so after I get it running, its time for a better cage, better rear end and minitubs.

Few more parts came in!

80lb Injectors, 3 Bar MAP, PAC 1218 Springs, Fbody windage tray, dipstick, LS9 Headgaskets and an AEM Wideband

I should be getting around to gapping the factory rings and starting to put the engine back together this week, put an offer in on a house today so progress may slow down temporarily.

Why not an LS6 intake? From what I read they outflow the LS1 intake.

But it still flows better and makes better numbers when boosted doesn't it? I realize the gains would be more pronounced when naturally aspirated.

What 3 bar map you go with? what did it run with the 351 and 331 setups? Nice project.

I ordered the injectors and MAP sensor from EFIsource.

The 351 was stock bottom end with a set of 185cc heads and a 200shot it went Mid 6's.

The 331 was N/A and only taken out once it went 7.1.

Thanks I am a long way out but hopefully will be making some noise this year.

Have a few more pictures of the progress. Slowly but surely it's coming along.

Gapped the rings

New Intake

Threw some heads from a 00' Vette on the motor along with the PAC1218's.
