Default 72 Chevelle LQ4 Swap Recommendations

Looking for some recommendations

Thanks in advance!

275/60R15 in the rear
28X11R15 slicks for the track
Best track time is 12.813 (street tire)

She weights 3920 lbs with driver, fuel, and full interior. She made 427HP (6050 rpms) and 432lbs (4900 rpms) on the dyno.

I am looking to wake it up and make it down the track a little faster and more fun on the street!

At the track I had to run street tires because my first set of slicks 29.5X11.5's were too tall and slowing me down on the top end. The street tires did spin into 2nd so I know with the smaller slicks it will gain some time.

My personal thoughts are to change the torque converter to a higher stall and tune it. It is lame off of the line. I am not super well versed in where to take it next. I am not looking to put a turbo, supercharger, or spray on it yet.

Please let me know what you would recommend.

Mike

A 3600-3800 stall converter would wake it up quite a bit without making it less fun to drive.

Weight is a major factor with this car.

Yeah she is tubby... we know that. I am just not at the point to remove the interior because she is a driver. One day we will swap the steel for fiberglass.

Thanks for your input, What would you consider to be to steep for a stall on the street?

Anything over 4000 depending on converter size just isn't as nice to drive anymore.

You could always swap heads. 243 or 799 heads would give you almost a full point of compression. Would make a noticeable difference in torque.

It has lived, it came with everything and with all the abuse it gets it seems just fine. We will be dropping the pan soon so I will know more. But it seems that the converter needs to be changed.

Who would you suggest?

Thanks
