For overall capability vs. weight, RX7 is hard to beat. Great handling and a rear end that can handle 1.5x 60' times out of the box.

I'm around ~2700-2750 depending on if I have my nitrous kit in and that's with the iron motor, and I still have a full (albeit lightened) interior. Sub 2500 lbs can be accomplished with an aluminum motor/T56 and a gutted interior, if you start with the right model RX7 (86-88 base model, no sunroof).

How does that commercial go? Zoom Zoom Zoom...

What are the specs on that RX7 rear end?

Dug...look into locost (lotus) 7 replicas. That's what I'm thinking of doing (and probably will in a year's time. From some of the early research, being able to meet the SCCA solo E Modified minimum weight for unlimted displacement of 1950 lbs, is easily doable.

I have seen pictures of an LS7 being put into a fiberglass 32 Hi-boy roadster. It has to be pretty darn light.

Lotus 7 replica at 1650 lbs without driver and fuel.
Could be a little lighter, but at the moment my wallet is too light.

Ultima's are pretty light. I also saw a guy who was doing a mini cooper too on here.. I'd think they are pretty light.

The Lotus 7 would have to be the lightest @1650

Ultima is about 2200.

I'm pretty sure it's sans driver, and it might be with fuel. Not sure on that...that's a good question. I'll have to double check.

Yeah, no doubt.

BTW, Philly SCCA is doing a winter event @ Ripken...don't know if you're looking to have "Frankin 7" out for anything this time of the year or not. That's Sat. Feb. 3. I'll probably be in attendence, so if you are out...let me know, else I will make a trip down to see you when I get some free time / when it gets to be spring. Something like that.

Regular auto-x...and I was incorrect...I don't know where I got my 1950 from...it's 1800 min. weight for unlimited displacement engines. Factor in a 50 lbs. penalty for a modified tub (a +4 or +442 chassis), add 300# for AWD, subtract 50# for 51% weight bias on the NON driven wheels.

page 149 of the document (labeled 134 on the page itself):
E Mod, unlimited displacement: 1800 lbs. with driver.

Deduct 50 lbs if less than 51% weight on driving wheels.

I think with me onboard my car is just over 1900 lbs, so I can still get rid of 150 lbs somewhere. I bet I have 20-30 lbs in the heavy side pipes, and another 20 lbs or so if I switch to lighter wheels/tires.
