Too bad Holley's controller doesn't manage the 6L80, but that may be a matter of time. That would be a cool upgrade. I love the 6L80 in my swap. I'd run it with a rear end gear like the C6 corvettes. 2.7 to 3.0 to 1 ish. The 3.5 to 1 with L92 torque and high multiplier in 6L80's 1st gear make 1st not compatible with WOT.

Good luck with your move!

I thought the CV setup fixed your drive train vibrations? Isn't redoing the geometry not fixing anything because you don't have u joint angles anymore.
Or are you thinking the holley stuff would make the auto swap simple and easy.

I don't have any driveline vibrations after the CV install. The Holley swap components have been engineered and validated for fitment, so I think it would be a really easy swap. Holley makes the mounts and a 4L80e trans crossmember. I'll have to get my driveshaft shortened, but that's relatively simple with a cargo shaft. I would also upgrade to a rear CV. I have a dual CV shaft in my Cougar and it is super smooth.

So a friend of mine brought this to my attention the other day. Apparently this commercial has been airing on various car related shows...Good times...

For all you that have been following this build, I just want to share a video I made featuring some new products from Holley. Saw these at LSFest this weekend.

Makes me want a LT4 in the GTO!

Someone made a post recently on the Pontiac forum lamenting the lack of young people at car shows and it inspired me to write this...

Nice article and it seems I align on both sides even though I don't want to. I love slick paint but I hate maintaining it.

I have 7,6, & 2 year old boys and they seem to be interested. I have no idea what their first car will be but I'm going to show them how to LS swap it

Great article, my parents and I have tried to expose my nephew to cars. He has enjoyed working on my Z06 project and wants to learn how to drive a 5spd so that he can drive my car. He is now 14.

I agree kids are limited on the choices when trying to buy an American V8 rwd car, as insurance, purchase price, gas etc etc. Further I defended the import culture ~15 years ago stating that they were keeping a major corner stone of hotrodding alive, in the motor swap. More than a few import owning friends have now switched over to V8 muscle as we have grown up, and income increased.

I may not like or agree with everyone niche of the car culture but we are in it together to keep car culture alive and further free from government restriction. We should be nice to each other and welcoming to kids or outsiders.

Your article also reminded me of this article, blog, update (whatever you want to call it). I love the site because they featured such varied areas of the car culture, even if I don't agree with their mods or statements 100%

Thanks Lamar...

I remember in the early 2000s everyone was saying that modified imports were going to take over the world, etc...etc...Well, that didn't quite pan out. The import scene is alive and well, but it has settled down considerable from the fad that it was 15 years ago.

We do indeed have to ban together because in the end, we are not each other's enemies. Our enemies are the Feds and if it was up to them, they would regulate us out of existence with the stroke of a pen.

Bumping this thread up, for no other reason than it has been over 10 years since I did this LS swap.
