Default 1986 el camino with 6.0 need trans help!!

I have a 86 camino. I have a friend who crashed his truck, I think its an 04/05
model. Its a chevy 2500HD with the 6.0 . Will any 97/02 T/A or camaro trans bolt up to this motor with no problems (T-56) I can get this motor for $$1,200.00 But don't want it if I can't put a 6 speed behind it. If It will work, I will post pic's this weekend of the conversion. Thanks all.

A 98-02 T56 might bolt up to it, but a 97 will be an LT1 T56 and it's different.

Your right, my bad, its 98/02 transmissions.. I know the only thing i would
need to replace would be the flywheel. I don't see why it would not work if the LSX are supposed to be all the same!. I want to be double sure

I been doing some reading on here and some folks say
that some 6.0 have different cranks (longer). How do you
know what year models to stay away from?? This is the
problem I don't want to run into. THANKS

The early 6.0's had the different crank. You will be fine with that particular engine.

I think it was the 99 model. LQ9 has a little more compression. Like I said you will be fine with that engine 04 or 05.

The lt1 t56 can be used but will require changing a few front end parts on the trans..... the 6.0 sounds like a good buy.....it will make a fun toy!

The 99 and 2000 4.8 and 6.0L`s had longer cranks. The 6.0`s also had steel heads on those years
