Do you have the thermostat hose hooked to the lower radiator fitting? That is the inlet on an LS1. I don't know but would think even with reverse cooling of the LT1 it would still flow in the top of the radiator and out the bottom. That way the water pump would never be able to suck air no matter how low you were on coolant.

Did you fill the block with coolant? I had to take the top hose off at the radiator and pour the coolant down the hose into the motor. When I just filled the radiator the thermostat would not open and it would just heat up. John

What did you guys do about the heater core inlet and outlet? I have a hose just hooking them together basically bipassing it but it is kind of smashed almost shut would this cause any problems? Plus the lt1 radiater and ls1 look identical from the out side except the lt1 has an extra 3/4"inlet/outlet on the drivers side that went to the waterpump, I blocked it off. ????? I took the coolant senser out of the head and it had coolant there and the top hose that hooks the heads together had coolant. It still seems like the coolant just wont go through the radiator. Like the thermostat isn't opening. The stock waterpump should be good, even if it was messed up it should still be pumping the coolant through the radiator some right. The radiator is completely cold????????/ Please help!!

Ok, so the block has coolant in it huh? It sounds like you have the water pump lines crossed up or something. The heater lines shouldn't have anything to do with it at this point. I would take a good look at a LS1 equipped car at this point and make sure that you have the right hoses in the right places. Your coolant return line which is part of the thermo housing should be the top hose going back into the radiator and the inlet or suction side of the waterpump on the bottom of the radiator. If it isn't then I would put money on that being your problem. On a LT1 the coolant flows through the block backwards but it flows through the radiator the same as every other car out there. Return hose goes in the top inlet hose on the bottom so like somebody eluded to it never draws air into the system. If you have it routed right then I would maybe suspect a bad pump. Sorry if this isn't any help, hope you get it figured out.

The hose issue has been covered many times. Let's not tell him to hook them up wrong.

The thermostat housing is the LOWER radiator hose.

The hose nipple sticking out of the water pump is the UPPER radiator hose.

Oops my bad, if that is the case that the thermo is on the intake side of things my bad. Every other vehicle I have ever messed with had it the other way around.

Not to insult anyones intelligence but are you sure the water pump is turning the correct direction? Correct me if I am wrong but I believe on this motor the water pump turns the opposite direction of the crank.

First of all there is no way to put the hoses on wrong. As I said above the LT1 and LS1 are almost identical and I am using LS1 hoses. Plus How do you run the waterpump Backwards? Come on. I need some real help.

How did you hook up the head steam vents? Mine dump high into the radiator. I understand if those vents are not routed higher than the block than air will be traped in the top of the heads.
