Update time,

Got in on an ID injector group buy so I now have ID1300s in the car. We also finished the new engine before I went on a week holiday down to Phoenix. 370ci, stock crate LS3 crank with reluctor wheel swap, K1 rods, JE Asymmetrical pistons, ARP mains/ rods/ head studs, LS9 headgaskets, LS7 lifters, Lil John Stage 3 turbo cam, 317 heads w/ Yellaterra rockers, blah blah.

Hoping to lean on this girl enough to justify the laundry out back now.

Car went back on the hoist so I could install moser 35 splines and a moser spool. All went great.

Went out and did some testing...

Then 3rd gear clutches said adios.

Pulley the trans apart and found several bad things, center carrier thrust washer was destroyed, case saver wasn't installed correctly(snap ring was actually deformed due to it) and the lip seal on the direct drum had been installed wrong causing it to tear a 1.5" long piece from it causing a 3rd gear leak.

Its all back together again, off to some races this weekend. See how the car will work!

Heres a pic near the end of last summer...

Then I had **** luck... A-1 Performance out of Vancouver Washington built me what has to be the worlds shittiest TH400. It was always eating the high gear clutches, I sent it back to them in which they told me nothing was wrong with it? I rebuilt it once after that and found thrust washers mangled, bearings broken, etc. I also paid 1200 for a custom spec torque converter that was an absolute dog. Car couldn't break 3200rpm on the transbrake. Now the transmission killing itself ended up plugging the trans cooler, which created a cooling line restriction which helped play a roll into the converter pushing the crank into the rad and cleaning the thrust bearings nicely... even a slight polish to the main caps.

Sent the pile of parts out to Mr Hutch with Hutchinson Transmission(Ontario) and he worked his magic. Very few parts if any at all were salvageable.

Sooooo the new engine will be a K1 crank, K1 rods, Weisco pistons, Ported 317 heads, Lil Jon Stage 3 cam... ugh. haha

THat sucks Matt.
At least you should be taken care of now.
Especially sucks about the engine. That really blows.
All should be better and hopefully faster for you.
Take care. If i get to Edmonton in the spring i'll message you. Wanna get to Castrol again in a bad way.

I had similar experience several years ago. The trans builder jacked the line pressure up so high over 800psi constant(I didn't think it was possible), that it would kill the crank thrust in less than 10 minutes at idle in gear. Of course he did nothing wrong. A a guy at AAMCO, corrected the line pressure issue, then all worked according to plan.

Sucks to hear about the trans trouble and the damage it did to the motor, but I know it will come back stronger! Looking forward to seeing it back on the road this coming spring

THat rim and tire combo you have make the car look evil and menacing.
If i can get the Z06 fronts that were offered i may do the same as your car.
Man that looks real tough.

When you had the Corvette wheels on the rear, 18x10.5, did you need to do anything special to make them fit? I am looking at a similar size combination 17x9.5 and 18x10.5, with a 275/40 and 315/30. I have 17x8 and 17x9 on the car now and still have tons of room. I am not afraid of spacers, so that is not a problem. I already changed the rear shocks to coil overs mounted ahead of the axle, so that is no longer a restriction.

LOVE YOUR BUILD AND THE WAY YOUR MIND CHANGES! I do the same.. I have a 70 chevelle and need a little help.

PSI harness route? How did you route your harness, and where did you cut in your firewall to run it? Where do you have your PCM mounted?

Fuel line route? I have -6AN Braided Stainless Steel fuel line and I was wondering how you ran yours? I was thinking of running over top of rear shock mount, down side of frame and I am stuck from there.. Where would I run headed to engine? Also, I was thinking of using my stock 3/8" hardline for my return line.... (or the same braided ss line). Also thinking of covering ss line heat shrink wrap or something where it will be touching metal... Will heat shrink work??

Right now I am running a LS6 instake, ported fbody DBC TB, (already installed my 80lb injectors so I guess those...), TH400 w/shift kit & stock TC, & I am now searching for f body headers thanks to you...LOL.

I ran 2" adapters(so 10 lug nuts per wheel) with the rear vette wheels. Everything else fit, my inner fender lips are trimmed, can't remember if that was an issue or not though..

Pretty much what I am using now with the Torque Thrust M's. That will make this easier.
