Default 88 trans am GTA ls1/6spd

well the car is acually an 84 trans am, but, anyway, here is how i ended up with a 3rd gen ls1 car...

i had an 86 base model firebird with a 5spd and a 305, i started looking to purchase a tpi motor for it, i had always wanted an ls1 but they are much more expensive than a tpi. after seeing the low numbers that heavily modded tpi cars put down i eventually ditched the idea of getting a tpi. My 86 wasnt doing to good burning oil, no power at all, and bad gas millage, so i then decided i really wanted an ls1 car, i started looking for a 2000-2002 trans am. I had a couple picked out i was going to look at, but then one night online i found an trans am with a 2002 ls1 out of a 6spd ws6 car with only 20k on the motor. the car also had custom autometer in dash gauges, and about every suspension component you can think of swapped out for aftermarked parts, brakes were also aftermarket wilwood 4 piston discs, front and back. the car also had the 02 gas tank, fuel lines, radiator, an slp loudmouth exhaust system, fans, and driveshaft...and a locker rear with 3.73's.

so the car was a major sleeper, the body on the other hand was pretty bad. it had parts that didnt line up, differant shade doors, rotten spoiler, dents, scratchs, and a rusted OUT rear quarter panel. i paid 6500 for the car and got a free set of 243 heads and alot of extra parts. i bought a set of hawks lt's and started looking for a body and paint guy. i did find someone and i then decided i wanted to change the car, i found an 88gta parts car with a good looking body and no trans or motor, stripped all the parts off it and had them installed on mine, i bought an 02 trans am spoiler from hawks and had it installed. it doesnt bother me its not a real gta, i plan on holding onto this car for awhile, still havent had it painted but all the body work is done, including cutting out the rear quarter, im going to have the wheels switched over tomorrow.

what do you think??

you just cant beat the fuel efficiency and power! make sure you get the six speed, my car was originally an auto, if you have any questions about the swap on the car get ahold of tuske427 on here.

Sweet deal man

I have a lot more in my swap than what you paid for a running car!

Good luck with it

btw, the 4th gen spoiler looks good on there, but its not my thing

yea, i always wanted to do the swap too, but it probably would of cost me over 10k to do all the things he had done to this car prior to me buying it.
