I used a flaming river steering u joint, it got rid of that bulky steering coupler that you are having issues with. Worked like a charm.

finished the tranny mount. bolts in using factory mounting points

now a new update, going backwards this time

lowering and pushing back the engine. not going to run the stock manifolds anymore. i will be building headers. i just need to weld up the passenger motor mount and change the tranny mount i just finished. if anyone is wondering i am running the stock frame side motor mounts. I just made new ones that bolt to the motor. All mounts are solid too.

If you are going to monitor knock then the solid motor mounts will wreck havoc with the sensors. If not then no worries. G

I've seen it time and again where there is a spot in the rpm range that all of a sudden the motor "sees" knock and pulls timing out. Traced it back to a resonant vibration through the frame that the sensors picked up. I've also seen it with a bad rear end flange (loose) and a chain to hold the motor down on the drivers side. All of these caused phantom knock readings and the PCM pulled timing. You can edit this down or out in the PCM but then you won't know when it is real knock and lose a motor over it. G

What brand is that tubing notcher, how much and where do I get one? That is a much nicer setup than most I have used.

I just have to bring up the guy with the GTO. I sure would love to tear up his "rare" car and put the drive train in a Opel GT...wouldn't feel bad about it either. That little guy is just jealous that he doesn't have the foresight, capability or skill to make a store bought ride cooler than it was to start with let alone complete a major custom buildup!

Keep it up! That thing is going to be awesome and was a cool rig to start with, but who can argue with an AWD, LS powered little rocket.....I can't because I have your sickness.

I don't really consider the GTO rare, and when I bought mine knowing I was going to modify the **** out of it I bought one of the most common colors/interior options, besides being what I wanted, lol.

I'm obviously following the build as it intrigues me and I once had a complete typhoon turbo setup mocked onto a 2002 5 spd blazer. I also had an FC rx-7 that was getting an LS1 swapped into it. I've fucked around with plenty of hybrids.....I am just a sucker for a sweet typhoon or syclone in factory form.
