Default Headers are high price for my app.

I'm finally back into my Blitzkrieg RX7 project. I've got a 383 short block and looking for heads. I got all my conversion parts from Hinson Motorsports. I work at an aviation maintenance shop and have access to machine tools and some skilled workers. Hinson is asking $895 for headers for my application. I'm in no hurry for the project and considering making my own. Unless somebody happens to have these headers lying around and wouldn't mind getting rid of them. Any advice or warnings of caution in the making process would be appreciated. I mean any advice

Would something like these work? I made these for about $144 in parts and 2 hours time.

Hey, don't feel alone man, the last time I found a price on swap headers for an '82-'92 F-body, they were like $890 or so... (Which is why I've bought a set of Hooker long-tubes to modify!)

Good luck.

I don't know what year rx7 your working on, but search my name. I pioneered the bbk fox body mustang longtubes to rx-7 chassis several years ago, there should be some pics still up. All you have to do is cut the flanges off, expand the tubes back to round, slide them into the gmpp flanges and there you go, ls1 swap headers for an rx-7.

From what everybody on v8rx7forum.com says the converted fox body headers wont fit on an FD, but they do fit on an FC. Just search around over there you should be able to find some info.

Don,t feel bad. I dropped $980 for my JTR 1 7/8 primary ceramic couted headers. They are very nice quality pieces. They are quite expensive, but you get what you pay for.

I am about to drop $1200 for my headers for my fox swap.
I would love to use the Kooks, but the ground clearance isn't enough for as low as my car is sitting

That is ******* ridiculous, there has to be some F Body headers you can rework or something,Pacesetters are cheap and will take a little work to refit,i bought mine for 300 bucks.i don't understand how these companies are justifying charging someone that much for headers, especially if someone like me is using a motor/mid plate setup and they won't fit anyway.

well, believe me, I would love to be able to use an off the shelf header.
$1200 is pretty cheap considering he is making them on the car, tucked into the frame as high as possible, and they are 2" to 2 1/8" step headers with merge collectors.
The problem I have is that the car sits in the weeds, so no matter what off the shelf header will fit on top, they will hit the ground.

I wish I could just find swap headers for my car (1978 Monza with '98 LS1). It is really tight on the passenger side. I looked at the Rx7 fd headers and they may fit but at that price I can't risk buying them. Why are they so much and who is the manufacturer?

JTR Jags That Run makes them, but I agree on the price

Some of us Miata/LSX swap guys use some Sanderson shorties. They're only $250. Both sides are tight so they might work for you. Call up Sanderson and ask about their LSX Miata headers.
