Default Tranny tunnel

Any idea on how much you are going to bore out the tranny tunnel? I am swapping an LS1/t-56 into my Z32 this spring and have heard mixed reviews on the clearance needed. I know its a completely different chassis, but those early 90s Nissan engineers tend to think alike!

I did the trans tunnel. I had to beat it like it robbed my mother. I also cut three tabs off the trans case for more clearance.

I wanted to be on the safe side in terms of fitment and to make it easier to get the trans in and out (I see 240 LS1 drift cars replacing clutches like every 10 miles). So I knocked it out a good bit and made plenty of room on the left side for access to slave.

I believe fitting it in a Z would be a bit easier. I think the Z32 trans is bigger than a 240 trans so probably bigger tunnel. I'm sure there are some Z32 swaps on here you could look at.

Works Aero sent me a hachi hood. Other such f*** ups and body work raping me has postponed paint until next weekend. Sweeeeet. F my life.

On the other hand, Slidewayz has been awesome. They got me bumper, side skirts, wide front fenders, 8 tires, and some suspension stuff with like zero notice and delivered it at 2am on Friday night. Also, big thanks to Frank, Kev, and Edward for help with body work this week.

Lookin great! I actually broke my air hammer trying to beat my trans tunnel into submission. Just a thought on the accusump, those things are holding 250 degree oil, do you really want it that close to your elbow? Keep it up lovin the progress!

Yeah, thought of that but wanted a place where I could see the gauge from the seat and be able to reach the valve relatively easily. I'll wrap it with insulation if it becomes a problem. Oil will probably be a lot cooler in the Accusump since it's far from the engine.

Got the Daft kit except for the headers. Went to put the transmission in to knock out the tunnel, and the crossmember didn't bolt in. Sort of inconvenient but Rich from Daft was cool about it and sent me another one, which should be here shortly.

Couple of practice wheels arrived.

Got the transmission as close as I could with the crossmember I had and knocked out the tunnel.

Some seam sealer.

Some undercoating.

Origin FG fenders on.

Works Aero sent me an AE86 hood instead of an S13 hood... Slight difference in size.

Side skirts on.

Bumper on with stock hood for now until the right FG hood gets here.

Body work done on rear quarters. "Paint booth" up. Masked for paint.

Everything cleaned and ready to go for primer.

Chassis primered.

Body parts primered.

Things are going slow because body work/paint is painful for me. Also, I've been wasting time dealing with fuckups like crossmember and wrong hood. Found out about another fuckup today... I bought a pair of sweet wheels from someone (Work Equips 18x10 with tires), and UPS lost one of them in transit. Excellent. So wasted like over an hour on the phone with them where they basically said "uhhh, that's weird, I don't know what could have happened to the other one..."

Thanks to Frank, Justin, Kev, Mel, Eulises, Edward, and Gio (think I got everyone... lol) for helping me out with this stuff last couple of weeks.

Never had a problem with the USPS or fedex. But, after 6 mo of stalking nascar leftover C&R (hand tig welded/$1800 new) radiators I finally found one that was narrow enough for the s14 frame rails with a built in oil/water cooler in perfect condition. UPS threw it over my 7' security wall onto a concrete walkway. Trapezoidal radiators don't work so well.

dude 235/40/18 direzza aint gonna do **** for you. i have a basic ls1 in my 240 and it brakes traction in a straight line in 3rd 2nd and 4th gear with tap to WOT with 245 and 255 pilots.

i havent taken it to the track to drift since i started the build but i am sure 235 is too small now. i ran 235 with my sr with great success (very niceee! how much)
255 40 17 is something to step up too with slx torque.

Hopefully you guys got your money back. I am pretty pissed about this situation. Not only UPS's fault but also the guy who shipped it. Looks like he thought that clear packing tape would be enough to hold together two wheels/tires... The tape probably came apart and wheels got separated at some point, and the shipping info was only on one wheel. Even then, how the f do you lose a 50-lb. wheel/tire?!

18x9.5 +4. Should be nice on the rear with some 225/40s or on the front for street bling.

Yes they are. They're going to make a whole lot of smoke.

Haha. Yeah. I think bigger tires are in my future. But I'm not stuck with 235s. Will get some bigger ones when I use these up. Can always soften the rear suspension if traction is a really big problem. And maybe the gigantic wing I'm getting will do something for traction? Probably not.

UPS did pay me back the cost of the item after an "investigation." They didn't pay me back for 6 months of searching for a rare part.

lol then im screwed, I have a combined width of 370 between my two rear tires and will have around 325 rear wheel torque with my 240lsx haha

Good God man, who's gonna be your driver - Bukkake Barbie?? (This build sponsored by Pepto-Bismol, Strawberry Shortcake, & Hello Kitty.)

Rumor has it that he's even wrangled a bit of free stuff from one of his sponsors...
