Default Skyline R32 LS3 - Cluch Questions

Hi!
Im building a Skyline R32 with a LS3 engine and T56 transmission.
If you want you can read more here:
Skylines Australia
And Im not from Australia, but from Norway

The reason for me to write here is that I have some questions.
1. What is the recomended size of Clutch Master Cylinder?
I am using a Pedal box, as this is a track car only, but I do not know the recomended Size. Choices are:
  • Bore: 0.625in, Stroke: 1.300in
  • Bore: 0.750in, Stroke: 1.100in
  • Bore: 0.875in, Stroke: 1.200in
  • Bore: 1.000in, Stroke: 1.000in
  • Bore: 1.063in, Stroke: 1.000in

2. What clutch is recomended for use in racing?
Since Im going for aproximly 550-600rwhp and 550-600lbsft torque, and using it to drift with, witch is a tremendusly hard on the clutch, I was wondering if I should use a dual plate like Fidanza Twin Disc Clutch Kits, http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

Or do anyone else have a recomandation?

For any kind of stock clutch set up ou need at least 0.75" and you don't want more than 1.00" bore. As for the stroke, I would get the longest you can and use a stop to reduce the travel if necessary.

Sounds like a fun car.

Tanks. I hope It will be with all the money and work thats going into this car...
I will run a Race Setup with a TwinPlate/TripplePlate or a sereius High Performance Single Plate, but Im not shure whats best. Im leaning towards Twinplate mentioned in first post.

This was one of my choices, and since Im using a Willwood Pedal Box, I can only use Wilwood Master Cylinders, and it is right in the middle of what Rao said.

If anyone else has a other suggestion, please tell me, and please tell me why, so it will be easier to make a desission, and please use the voting.

I went back through my old notes on this - you could go with as small as a 5/8" bore, but you will need a lot of stroke.

You have any pics of the setup? I am going to be running the same setup in an s13 and was just curious to see pics of one done.

run what most of us run a 1" stroke .750 bore. im using a wilwood master on mine and its worked fine (except for when a master failed 5 months into the swap)

as for a clutch, just get a GOOD sprung puck setup from somebody like RPS or McLeod. im making about 400 at the wheels and am running a spec 6 puck and have never had a problem. car is a full on drift car.

p.s. you wont be using the clutch as much as you think with all that torque i rarely have to clutch kick anymore haha

Hi!
Thanks for the help.
Currently there seams to be three to choose from:
Bore: 0.625in, Stroke: 1.300in, Volume: 6.54ml
Bore: 0.750in, Stroke: 1.100in, Volume: 7.96ml
Bore: 0.875in, Stroke: 1.200in, Volume: 11.82ml

There is a lot more volume difference between the second and third choice than the first and second.

The first has a long stroke, but a realy small bore, but the second has a short stroke but ok bore.
Thats why I was thinking of the third one, wich has a long stroke, and big bore.

But remember, Im probarbly going to run a racing twin plate clutch setup for a LS7 or something like that.

What do you think?

I'm running the 0.75" wilwood for my LSx 240sx project. And just drove RuthlessLS2's with the same master. His with a blown stock clutch was coming on quite a ways off the floor. So I don't think that I'd go bigger.

Hi!
I just found another cylinder from wilwood that I can use, it has 1.4" stroke, and 0.750 bore.
and It ads up like this:

Bore: 0.625in, Stroke: 1.300in, Volume: 6.54ml
Bore: 0.750in, Stroke: 1.100in, Volume: 7.96ml
Bore: 0.750in, Stroke: 1.400in, Volume: 10.14ml (The new one)
Bore: 0.875in, Stroke: 1.200in, Volume: 11.82ml

I would think this is big enough in volume to handle a racing clutch, but sensitive enough because of its small bore and long stroke.
What do you people think?

If you look at the thread called Skyline R32 LS3, Build Thread, you will see a lot of pictures. This thread is only about what size of master cylinder to choose for clutch and what clutch is recomended.

Hi everyone!
I would prefere that all questions about the build it self is done in this thread:
Skyline R32 LS3, Build Thread
Since this thread is only about what Clutch Master Sylinder to chose and Clutch to choose.

The other thread also contains a lot of pictures...
