Starter issue LQ motor
If that LQ4 had a 4L80E on the back of it originally and you removed that Spacer, did keep the same Starter that was originally on it?
What kind of Transmission are you using?
From what I can tell, I think you kept the original Starter for the 4L80E setup.
Go get yourself a Starter for a 5.3l Truck Engine and try that if you are using anything else besides the 4L80E.
but you need to ck that the sterter gear is moving outward
I dont remember there being a spacer on my flexplate when I removed it.
I just bolted up an 02 LS1 flywheel to my 02 LQ9. I used the Escalde starter, it is on but I have not tried to crank it yet. I'll hook up a battery and see if it engages later today.
There may be starter differences with vs without the spacer.

I'm using a 2002 Block, and I had a Camaro Starter on it with no problems for my Auto setup, and I see the T56 setup going on just as smooth.
Maybe your Starter is messed up..
The starter engages fine.
Before you do anything, remove the starter and make sure the gear pops out when engaged.

If so, the starter has 2 terminals. The large one is connected to the battery. It's hot all the time and actually spins the starter. The smaller one activates the solenoid, engages the gear, and activates the starter motor. It's only hot when you crank the engine. You need to supply power to both terminals to test it.
