Thanks man! I'm going to start off with a 75 shot, and get used to that for a while. It will still be another month or so before i do that though.

Overall i am happy with the car. There are always things that you look back on and wish you had done differently. Mainly i wish i had never cut the rear fenders and gone with the flares. That was the biggest pain and waste of time. Yes, it pays off with a lot better traction and makes the car way more predictable. I do plan on doing something about the rear end sooner or later. When i put the 75 shot on there, i should be trapping in the high 120's which will put me into 5th gear even with the 26" tall tires. I want to try and stay in 4th eventually. Other than that, there are a couple things i am going to be playing around with until i get everything how i like it... but we all know it is a never ending project.

What is your gear in the rear matt? Mine was a 4.08 gear and I ran 133 on motor with 26 inch tires in 4th gear thru quarter.

I have 4.1 gears in the rear end. I'm not sure what my rev limiter is set at, but it seems around 6700 or so. At 6500rpm in 4th it should be around 122mph.

What rpm's were you turning through the traps?

Also, Mitch and i might be at the track sunday. Trying to see if John Clay can tune it a little out there too.

133 mph on motor? So you shoudl be running low 10's to high 9's, yes? My Ranger traps 130's and thats what it does.

122 mph in t3h 1/4 would be a low 11 to a high 10.. give or take. MPH's can get tricky when you're dealing with a light vehicle.

Yeah, i think it is mainly going to depend on traction. I have seen LS1 Miata's getting anywhere from high 12's to high 11's with a stock motor. After i actually learn to drive this thing, it should be interesting.

UPDATE
Just got back from getting a little street tuning done. Thanks to John Clay, now the MAF is functional, and everything seems to be great. Gas mileage seemed quite a bit better on the trip back as well.

My local hydraulic shop soldered on -06 AN male fittings to my pickup tubes for $5 each.

I helped my uncle build up an early 60's Falcon Ranchero. It had the skirted rear wheel wells that wouldn't clear much of a tire. We took a spare set of front fenders and cut out the wheel arch and set them over the rear wheel arches using 1/4" rod so they were a couple inches further out from the body to clear wider tires. Cut out everything behind it and filled the inner fender voids with sheet metal.

Connect the dots on the skin of the donor fender section to the body with some sheet metal & more 1/4" rod for strength and blend it all in. It turned out wicked and fit a good sized tire under there.

You could do the same for yours with a little urethane work to blend into the rear bumper and incorporate the side marker light.

Ok, first time at the track in this car, and my first time back in a while... so take it easy on me!!! haha

First 2 times down the track i missed 4th. I'm not sure how you miss 4th, and two times in a row, but i sure did. I got in three other passes after that, but was being gentle shifting into 4th. Last two passes the track was cooling off, and i spun all the way through 2nd. Didn't have time to play around with tire pressure, only launch rpm. It didn't seem to matter whether i bogged it or spun a bit off the line, it would blow them off with ease at the top of first and through 2nd either way. Next time:

-Lower tire pressure
-Heat them up more
-Shift like a man!!!

Yes i do. I really didn't have time to play around with much. This next sunday i should be out there again, although i'm not sure if i am going to be running.


I'm not sure what you mean by axle kit. I am using the stock RX7 TII axles in modified miata hubs and a stock TII diff. I did a lot of reading on different RX7 forums before deciding to go with that, and they have held a pretty good amount of power. I have heard of some guys dipping into the 8's on stock axles too, but at that power level it is only a matter of time IMO. I do know that all of the RX7 guys are going to the 8.8 after the TII breaks. That is my eventual plan too. I just happen to have an extra TII diff and 2 extra sets of axles laying around though, so that might be a while. haha
