Default Finally...LS2 70 nova

Well I finally through it in there this past weekend..motor dropped right in, trans took a little work but nothing major..

I must converting to this motor was the best thing I could have done, working on this thing is so damn easy...finally no dealing with gaskets, stupid timing cover to pan gaskets and distributors..caint wait to fire it up next month. still waiting on the headers, but wiring and controller are all done....

thanks for all the usefull knowledge on this site....

Nice paint job! Looks familiar!

I'll be watching this project... Hopefully someday I'll be able to get my 5.3 together for my car.

Thanks guys, Ive got Brp motor mounts and the first production set of 1 7/8" headers from them as well..I'm running an LH8 oil pan which clears very nice but does hang low, we will see how close it gets to the ground once I lower the care back down..

I am looking for more info of the parts you used and pics of the swap. Over the past couple of years I've seen tons of pics of your at Steves site, definately one of my favorites.

sorry guy, I dont have alot of detailed pictures of where I'am at now. It's simply an LS2 crate motor with a 599/601 lunati cam and a Classic 5 speed T56 swap kit, with BRP hotrods motor mounts. Currently waiting on there first production set of headers for my car.

I bought a GM performance accessory drive kit form GM. I stll need to order a FAST throttle body and possilby their intake manifold..

A very good friend of mine gave me his complete LS1 computer and wiring harness from his sand car so all I had to do was call Jon at Speartech to get me injector, map, and knock jumper connectors to make the harness work.

I went with the same kit in my 69 and ended up using Kooks TBSS headers because Phil didn't have the stainless long tubes ready to go yet. His headers looked real good but the price was similiar to the TBSS. I had some coated rust through before. So far for me everything fit great with the BRP kit. I would be interested in seeing your firewall clearance. With the notch and stock compressor in the motor can still go back about another 1.5 inches and the compressor will still clear with about .5 inches. I am thinking about moving it back and up after I am done. I think Phil located the motor where it is more for the manual tranny guys. I have tons of pics and should be ready to start mine within the next month.

Some updated pics, wiring is scattered everywhere, but I will soon clean that up. Waiting on some more pieces, just got my Aeromtive fuel pump and Ron Davis radiator..Its coming along smoothly, at this rate I should, get it running very soon..
down to the wire now..

Forgive my ignorance. But what is that plate on the front of the timing cover?
