Default Porsche 944 conversion - Dry Sump experience?

Hi all,

Are there any 944 guys out there who have installed a dry sump with their LSx conversion?

Which oil pan are you running or will fit?

Thanks,

Steve

Thanks for the heads up on your dry sump, but for road racing it's pretty clear that I need a full dry sump set-up.

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve, it looks like we are into the same stuff. My project is an LS1/ZO6 into a 968. The oil pan needs to be real shallow to clear the cross member and to keep the engine down low. I went with a Moroso dry sump pan and decided to go with the dry sump setup as it solves a few other issues as well. Are you on the Porsche Hybrid site? I don't have the engine in yet so i don't know how all the bits are going to work yet so its a work in progress.

i've fitted an ARE dry sump conversion to my ls1 /ls6 block for my kit car, it appears to work well on track however my old engine did spin a bearing, but that was a well used 2nd hand ls1 i bought very cheap. all i did to the engine was fit arp rod bolts but i did rev to 6600rpm, so the failure may have nothing to do with oiling.

the ARE is a shallow pan, with a 2 port scavenge pump system. it still uses the o.e oil pump system via a seperate pick up area within the pan. i was seeing 7bar oil pressure on a cold engine and 4bar hot on track.

Yes, I just got back on that site asking about this. I am pretty set on the Dailey pump/pan combo because I have heard that the ARE fitment takes a lot of customization to work around the 944 crossmember. I haven't heard of he Moroso use. What are the depths of the pan?

ps- I'm Steve who started the thread, but changed my name on LS1 Tech to this one

did you end up going with the Dailey setup that has the wing on the pan that the pump bolts to??? If so, I am curious about fittment because I have that pan/pump and am considering putting this motor in a 944 when it gets done with its Bonneville duty...

Hi again,

We went for the ARE shallow pan, which needed no modification to it.

The car's actually for sale now, as it my tow rig. If you know someone looking for a killer deal on a sweet, fast and winning Endurance car or ST1 car, please let me know.

I just got married and want to build a house, so sadly need to sell. I'll consider trades also for construction professionals.

I'm in the Los Angeles area.

Thanks,

Steve
