Default exaughst for 1968 Camaro LS2

I have Stainless Works 1 3/4 headers on my LS2 in the 68' Camaro. Other than being balanced and tuned, the motor is stock. I am looking at either putting a 2.5" or 3" duel exhaust behind the headers, but don't know what would be best for my application. I want the most power possible.
I plan on keeping the motor stock for years.

thanks.

2.5" will be fine and give you plenty of flow

I'd go 3" with a x or h pipe. The selection for mufflers is endless depending on how loud you want it to be.

I was going to use Stainless works exhaust weather it was a 2.5" or 3". They offer both with an X pipe and their mufflers. I don't want to go too big and lose torque, but don't want to lose hp up top by having a restrictive exhaust.

2.5 is plenty for a stock motor and will also reduce any clearance issues. 3" is a dam big pipe to route, especially 2 of them. X pipe is a good idea too.

I've got a 3" Magnaflow on my LS7 '68, however, I think you'd be fine with a 2.5" system behind a stock motor. I've made over 400 rwhp through a 2.5" system on my LS2 '06 GTO, and it's still got stock mufflers.

I like the sound of the Magnaflow on the Camaro, though. It's loud, but not horrible on the highway, and when you get in it, it just screams. In other words, there's no doubt that it's a muscle car. It comes with an x-pipe in it, and it's all stainless. X-pipe vs H-pipe vs no crossover is more about the sound you want rather than horsepower. X will make a tad more than H which makes a tad more than none, in general. The 3" system has 2 mufflers under the backseat rather than the single behind the axle like a stock exhaust. A 2.5" system would give you a lot more options.

You can get a set of stainless Pypes with a x-pipe either in 2.5 inch or 3 inch. Buy the mufflers that you want and then either have the pipes out the back done or buy a set of 2.5 inch flowmaster universals out the back al mandrel bent. The total price for the pipes should be around $200-$250 and over half will be stainless. Summit or Jegs or your fav place to shop.

Thank you guys for all the replies. Looks like a 2.5" system will be best for me.
