That's just the way I feel about it though.
If you have access to a lift or hoist, I would drop the motor to do that. I dropped my LT1 in my driveway to put longtubes, plugs, and plug wires on it. I started on it around 1-2pm and had it finished by midnight. It's more work but it is a hell of a lot easier, IMO. Cam is another couple of hours.

I completely agree with you about getting paid for experience. My friend and his dad were completely in shock seeing the LS1 on the ground in 2 hours. What he doesn't understand is I can name off absolutely everything that needs to be removed from the car, plus what size socket it takes to drop the motor. It takes the average person prob 10-12 hours to do it for the first time. I've probably done it somewhere between 15-20 times, so I'm pretty efficient at it.

Yea, dropping an Engine is cake. For me it's really easy without the AC, with a Lift it takes me about 50 minutes to an hour to have it on the ground.

Sorry. I misread I guess. I thought it was a friend, not an "acquaintance".

In that case.... a grand sounds about right.

I ran in to a snag today. I'm trying to find a connector for the 98 coolant temp sensor, and none of the parts houses in town carry a connector/pigtail. Only one dealership has it in stock, for *GASP* $60! . I knew it would be expensive, but I was thinking more along the lines of 10-15. $60 for one connector is outrageous.

Anyone know where to find one for cheaper?

^^Yea, go to the Junk Yard and pull one off of a Car with a newer GM Throttle Position Sensor, or some of the Gen III Vortec Trucks have that same Connector on the Oil Pressure Sensor as well as the TPS.

If you can't find one after looking into all that I think I may have a couple. I had to wire that into my Harness and that is where I got the Connector to use from.

Well we got the LS1 bolted in tonight. We're going to start working on all of the wiring, crossmember, and whatever snags we run in to tomorrow.

I did notice a lot of people on here were modding the LS1 AC lines by welding on LT1 fittings to work the the factory evaporator box. Well I figured out today that even though the LS1/LT1 compressors and lines look completely different, the LT1 lines will bolt right on to the LS1 compressor with just a little bit of tweaking. So the LS1 compressor has LT1 lines that will working with the factory evaporator, condensor, and receiver/dryer. Woot! One problem solved.

Oh and also we figured out that one of brake line fittings from the LS1 will not work in the LT1 ABS block. So we cut the lines to get the fittings off, and swapped them. It is the rear fitting on the ABS block (I don't remember which wheel. FR IIRC, because we didn't want to change the line with it in the car.) Cut and flare and that is done! The LS1 lines will mate right up to the LT1 ABS block with some careful bending.

Sounds like some good work. I don't have A/C, and I deleted the ABS, so that made it a little easier for mine.
