I always like those, cept the typical 80's garbage interior and the lack of a tilt steering wheel. A friend of mine had one of those and I drove it now and then. kinda fun. Your conversion sounds like a winner

I stopped by the body shop today. It's got paint on it. Now I just have to drag it back home and start putting it all back together. For now here's a little teaser.

My first car I had in high school-a 79 Yellow/black 024 had the plaid cloth seats haha. I've thought about getting them reupholstered with that material but.........nah. I did swap in the older console and dash that does have some woodgrain so it goes better with the pistol grip shifter. Anyway here's a couple more, sorry the one of the tail is fuzzy, I guess I moved.

A little more wet sanding/buffing and I got the decal on the scoop this weekend. Part of the paint sheme I was going to black out the headlight areas and the grille openings but I like the color so much I don't think I will. Any thoughts?

A couple more.... I did swap out the wheels too. One of the tires had a bulge in the tread and these were just sitting on the Sport Omega with new tires. Besides, I bought these rims a long time ago possibly to put onto this car anyway.

Wow, this brings back alot of memorys. I wanted one these so bad back in the day. I couldn't afford the insurance. Instead, bought a brand new 87 Charger, Sep. of 86. Beat of snot out that poor car, loved it, but dreamed of the Shelby or GLHS.
Very cool conversion, gotta be a fun ride.

My best friend had one of these for one of his first cars. One of our other friends owned it first and it had the boost turned up and ran really well. It was much faster than my stock 5.0 tbi Camaro.

I'll try to get a video figured out. Thanks for the comments. A couple more to try and show the color. I really like it. Funny thing was that the body shop said they couldn't mix the first color I had picked out of the PPG fleet color book in base/clear so he said to pick something else and I asked if I could look at the production colors and I picked out the 2007 GM Bahama Blue that you see on the Tahoes and such. Even then looking at the little chip I didn't know it was one of those colors that changes a little with the reflection/shading. One of the other things I'll work on this winter is moving the exhaust. I have an idea to get the pipes past the IRS without losing ground clearance so I'll keep you posted on that. Side exit really isn't my thing anyway.

I was planning on getting some new rims for the car but I still like the swiss chees wheels. Problem was that the surface had some oxidation/spots in the machined finish that I just couldn't get out by using polish or anything else. So I decided to sand the machined finish off and try to polish them. Now I think I'll keep them. I am still wanting to get a set of RWL BFG Radial TA's though. It's an 80's car and I still like raised white letter TA's. Besides, the 195-50's are one size too small anyway. I also finally swapped out the grey dash and put the black one in. I just need to get the seats recovered in black now.
