Little update here guys...I got a stock 4.6 kmember in the car, new steering rack, I have new shocks and struts for the car, and new springs and upper and lower rear control arms are on the way. I also picked up a set of modified 4.6l mounts that are ready for an LS1! I can't wait to get this baby done! Next step is probably line lock install and fuel system...

Take your time, the ls1 offers plenty more power vs the 5.3, there are always ls1's for sale so so in the parts for sale or craigs list and find your parts.
I think this is a cool swap, and am kinda surprised there isn't more ready info on it, double cheap someone hasn't published a book on this, there will be great tips in a complete book if there is one, plus it would save a ton of time, money and headache, good luck and be sure to post pics throughout the build.

I'll give this thread a bump! I finally got a motor (5.3 from an 04 silverado, 50k miles). I'm putting an ls6 intake on it, possibly an aftermarket cam. Gonna try to get it test fitted in the car soon.

I wish it was the other way around. They should just have a kit w/ a bellhousing and **** so you can use a cable clutch. That way you can use the stock clutch pedal.

I got the 5.3 dropped in for a test fit. I think I'm going to stick w/ the truck oil pan, its only about 1.25" lower than my kmember. I'm in the process of gathering cheap fbody front accessories. I have the water pump and alternator, also picked up an ls6 intake.

Got a junkyard 80e for 80 bux. Gonna run it stock and see how it is. The trans is in the car for mock up. Waiting on my income tax refund to pick up a mig welder so i can do my trans crossmember and header flanges.
