DO ANY OF YOU KNOW WHERE I MIGHT LOOK THAT DOESNT COST MONEY ?lol
ITS GOT THE MSD DIDTRIBUTER WITH THE POINTS INSIDE!My buddy said it actually may be a numbers matching 327 or a 307 which if it is ,i might sell instead of rebuilding .I know alot of guys with older camaros or classic cars with nonmatched engines would love to have this !im guessing!

Number on the pass pad won't help you, The block number is used too widely to get you there from here, though I think you meant 3970010. We will need more info to identify the engine. You will most likely be pulling a head and making a few measurements... If you can measure the bore and the stroke, you can identify the engine. Drop the pan, and you will also identify the main caps (2 or 4 bolt).
cid - bore - stroke
283 - 3.750 - 3.000
302 - 4.000 - 3.000
305 - 3.736 - 3.480
307 - 3.875 - 3.250
327 - 4.000 - 3.250
350 - 4.000 - 3.480
Don't forget that it is not uncommon for engines to have larger bores in .010, .020, .030, .040, and .060 inches.
Pray for a 4.00 x 3.00, 302's have good resale value!
