Unhappy LS1 in an LT1 Camaro

Sure this has been asked before but bare with me. Totaled my 01 camaro thanks to my stupidity and a friend stopping extremely fast on his motorcycle. Ive got a 96 LT1 camaro body that a very generous friend is gonna donate to me so i can swap my engine/trans and rear end to. Are the ls1 and lt1 engine mounts the same? Im sure i will have more questions once i start the project this weekend but thats it for now. Any info from someone who has done this feel free to post pm me please. Im desperate and am determined to get this car on the road again soon. Thanks!

i have the very same question cause ill soon be doing the same thing: ls1 into lt1 car, problem is the search function doesnt work, and i cant find any threads on the subject

I just finished the swap. Pretty straight forward if you have both cars. I literally took everything from a 99 and planted it into a 95. You will need the K member for the engine for sure. I unfortunelty dont have a write up on what I did, but it was a remove from one car, install on the other.

I just did this swap in my 97, i did it myself, not a shop.


The k-member has to be changed, steering rack, and of course all the wiring needs to be done. I just used a 98 harness in my 97 and had to move about 10 wires around to make it function 100%.

Ill have to look at the k-member to see if i can reuse it since a telephone pole hit the front of my car. Everything else was ok and even after the wreck the engine was still running and cranks like it was never wrecked, which is a great. So ill be able to reuse my pcm and harness. Guess if i cant reuse my k-member ill look in the junkyards but its unlikely ill be able to find one for an ls1 around here.

Sounds like the perfect time for a tubular K member from BMR, Spohn, UMI, or PA Racing.
