HEADER TIME FOR 67 Camaro
I wanna change the stock egzost manifolds to headers on my 67 Camaro.
I have the S&P mounts. I have been reading alot and did not get a clear answer if SW headers will work with S&P mounts. There was some complain it would not clear the idler arm I think. Did they correct that problem?
Or any other Stainless headers out there that would work with power sttering box and S&P mounts?
And If I go non stainless route how is coated headers look after a while as far as cosmetic?
Thanks

I have been serching last 2 days no clear answer what would work with S&P motor mounts. I beleive S&P keeps the engine low and back so I dont want to change. There was another talk about late model Camaro long tubes with only one mod and it would fit but seems like I can not find it.

I used ATS mounts with hooker header, was tight. I think Rodder use S&P mounts with hooker heads and had to dent them.
My hooker coated headers have about 1500 miles or so on them. They have minor surface rust around the head to flange weld but still look great. My LT1 hooker headers did the same and never got any worse.

i believe the s&p's are the same as the carshopinc's. if that's the case, ARH's were designed to work with those. i ordered a set last week for my '71 nova (crossing fingers that they will work - same front subframe as the 1st gens), and i'll let you know how they fit when i get them.

Shawn, I've got Hookers with ATS mounts with 327 stands and short/wide Energy Suspension mounts, and I was rubbing in 3 places. I beat the heck out of mine to get 1/4" clearance.
Only thing I know for SURE that work with S&P are the S&P shorties. 67rsss used the S&P mounts and shorties.
Carshopinc sells two different size plates for 1st gen f-bodies. Their normal plate is the same as S&P I think, but the also sell a "1 inch setback" plate that is pretty popular.
Another problem that no header or plate manufacturer ever seems to mention is frame stands. For any given year of 1st gen Camaro, there are 3 different sizes of plates and mounts:
- small block 327 stands, use short-wide mounts
- small block 302/350 stands, use tall-narrow mounts
- bigblock stands, use bigblock mounts, offsets engine 1-inch toward passenger side

i personally like the edelbrocks 65043, they clear steering box etc,the only reason i couldnt use them is im using stock type clutch linkage. they wont clear the z bar. so if your running automatic trans or hydraulic clutch, should be fine.

Got my ARH's in my nova. Here's the results. Basically, it hits on the idler arm at full lock to the left, and on the zerk fitting at full lock to the right. Oh, and the O2 sensor bungs are close to the 4L80e, but I'm not sure that would be a problem with a 60e or T56. They look great though.
EDIT: I'm running carshopinc motor plates.

ARH w/Camaro clip in 39 Ford
I just got my ARH headers last week and considering that this is not the intended application they fit pretty well. I made my own plates and am using stock motor mounts. I haven't drilled them yet because I'm still determining forward placement. I had to go with 1/2" plates instead of the 1/4" to raise 2 dr. side tubes away from the PS box. I was hoping they had the band clamps & bolts with them but they are a good looking set for sure. Good job you guys at ARH!
