Default 87 Iroc Z LS1 Swap

After many hours of work and research I finally got the motor in last night. Hopefully I will have it running in a couple weeks. All I have left to get it running is a fuel system upgrade and exhaust. well and wiring and bolt in the tranny.

Congrats on getting all of that done!

well I pulled off the ac pully setup and just used the stock one that came on it. I pulled it all off first though and spent several hours getting everything super clean. Then I taped and painted it.

As far as mounting the engine my first thought was to use the spohn mounts with the LSX motor mounts. But the headers I bought would not work with these. The left header was fine but the right one was hitting the LSX motor mounts. So what I did was buy the Hooker Header motor mount relocation piece and used the 3rd gen mounts. They lined up correctly but the right header was hitting the k member so a little cut with the sawzall and it was in. I still have to mount the tranny and a Intend on using the spohn crossmember for this It should work I guess I will find out soon enough.

I picked up a 4th gen dash for free off craigslist but it doesnt have a cluster. Has anyone built there own cluster or have any ideas for me. I have read that if I use a 4th gen cluster it has to be out of a 97 or newer camaro but my question is does it have to be out of an LS car or can it be from a V6 camaro. Thanks

Make it easier on yourself and get the dash from an LS car(98-02).

What I did was to use a Walbro 255 pump in the tank (easier, quieter, pump stays cooler), with the 'Vette regulator, but I kept the stock thirdgen fuel level sensor. TGO also has a lot of good info on this.

EDIT:

Nothing smaller than 3/8" (that's -6 AN) feed & 5/16" (-5 AN) return, & going up a size or so wouldn't hurt if you can swing it. I've read that Summit has rolls of steel fuel line for a decent price also.

I just mounted a Walbro GSS340 pump on my stock 3rd gen fuel tank unit, mounted a fuel pressure regulator on the fenderwell, and used the stock TPI fuel feed & return lines. Been running perfectly since 2004, including nearly a dozen road course events and road trips to Memphis and Indy.

ok so I have a 4th gen tank and pump now, and I have a pretty good idea how to run my lines now all I need is the locking ring to hold the pump sending unit to the tank. Anyone know where I can get one. I am going to check the stealership and see how much they want for one in the morning.
