reverse lock out wiring question
my question is, how are you guys wiring it? I am thinking of using a relay triggered by pressing the brake, except that every time i hit the brake the solenoid will actuate. Any other suggestions?
You can do what you suggest or even off of the Clutch switch. But I just kept it simple.
I don't think I would use a clutch switch because it would continue to allow it to go to reverse when switching gears. Now that I think about it, i don't like using the break to trigger the lock out either, I would always have to come to a complete stop apply the break to engage reverse.
I don't think i want to force it over with either, seems like too much hassel.
maybe i could fab a spring which would require applying extra pressure to engage...

I figured it out! Too bad I can't get the photo to post.
Anyway. Take the reverse lock out solenoid apart. Remove the actual solenoid then take the plunger out of the mounting bracket. Once you have the plunger out there is a c-clip holding a heavy spring between the plunger and a stop. Throw the c-clip across the room and reinstall the plunger leaving the spring in between. This will feel just like factory and provide a positive feeling when engaging reserve without accidentally grinding gears when you really just want 5th.
As for the hole left by the solenoid, do you drink wine or champagne? Use the cork, it will thread right in...
Thanks in advance.
