Going from LS2 to LQ9- Sensor question Ok, Here goes.
I've searched and searched, and haven't found exactly what I'm looking for.
I'm going from an ls2 to an lq9 block and I'm wondering exactly what to do with my knock sensors and cam sensors.
I know some people with the 05's and 06's (GTO E40) have done this, so hopefully one of them will chime in here.
Can I just use my LS2 timing cover and an LS2 timing chain in the LQ9 and put the sensor back in the stock location?
How about the knock sensors, Is that just a matter of drilling and tapping the side of the block?
Help is greatly appreciated!

You don't say what LS2 YOU are switching from. There are different LS2's based on model year and application.
If you have a 24X LS2 then you can do the cam sensor either way; reuse the LS2 cam gear and sensor in the front, or use the one in the back of the LQ9 block. You will need to find a way to mount the LS2 knock sensors on the new block.
If you have a 58X LS2 other changes will be needed.

No prob! I appreciate the advice on the cam sensor.
I guess I can just mount my knock sensors in the same positions as the LS2 that's in it now? I'll just have to drill and tap a hole in about the same spot?

EXACT location of the knock sensors (down to the millimeter) probably isn't critical - but why wouldn't you just lengthen the wires for the LQ9 sensor locations, rather than tapping the block?? Seems like it would be a LOT easier...

I would do that, but as I've read and read- the knock sensors on the LS2 in my car run from a 5v signal and the ls1 style valley pan sensors run from a 12v signal, is that right?
I'd much rather use the stock location on the lq9 block. I don't care about rerouting the wiring, that part's a snap for me.
