I was told that you have to use the v-8 dash and wiring harness or run the v-6 dash computer and sending units on the ls1 motor ????????

ther are various ways about swapping a ls motor.
gotta take budget into account, add ons, etc.
prolly cheeper to go turbo if looking for more power. easier to build a turbo system around your engine than ls swap.

from the budget LS swap thread (sticky) you're probably lookin at about $1,500 for the motor (4.8 or 5.3). Trans probably going to run between $500-$1,000 or so depending on whether you're going with a 60e, 80e, or t56. You can use the V6 dash, but you'll need the V8 cluster, v6 has 120mph speedo while v8 is 160 I believe. You'll need the wiring harness and ecu if it doesn't come with the motor. LS1 k member.

Going from a v6 to v8 I'm guessing you'll need to upgrade shocks/springs/brakes possibly. I don't know if the rear in a v6 is the same as the v8...driveshaft maybe...possible fuel pump.

I'm just guessing off the top of my head...$3,000-$4,000 in parts easy, and that's buying everything used. Labor at a shop would be unreal is my guess, best if you can do the work on your own.

Front Suspesnsion is the same except for the Springs..I would upgrade to the LS1 Brakes IMO.

i heard that the v6 has a different tank than the v8 but i'm not sure either. I'm interested too because i dont have the money to buy a v8 but i can get a v6 roller for 1200.

i did a 99 v6 - 01 ls1 swap
here is my list of things i swapped

motor/trans with egine harness
k-member
rack and pinion
sterring shaft from column 2 rack (v6 and v8 are diff.)
radiator
v8 gauge cluster diff years have diff fuel level readings
vette fuel filter ( it has a buit in regulator and return )
and i just upgraded my fuel pump 2 a racetronics pump
if i remember more i will post it but i think that was all

and i only had 2 add one wire 2 power bank 2 for the other coils and injectors
thats the only wiring i had going from a 99 v6 - 01 ls1

and other thing like LSD with gears , springs and brakes
and i upgraded 2 a aluminum driveshaft

I guess the thing that always comes up is, "is it worth the money?"

in every 6 to 8 conversion thread someone usaully says that.

Slammed1500- about how much did it cost you to do the conversion?

I would be interested because there is a v6 roller around here for 1500 which i could probably get for 1k. Then i would have to save up for the rest of the parts and do the conversion slowly.
