Are you using the fuel pressure sensor in the sending unit? If you deleted it, are you sure you didnt remove the low reference wire? According to the diagram Bozzhawg posted, there are only two wires from the fuel level sender, C3 49 low reference, and C1 37 fuel level sensor signal, might check to make sure they're there and hooked up. Hope this helps.

Yelp the problem seems to be between the ecm and sending unit....
I agree with LS1nova, something is not reading or I saw where you cut the length of the rods for the float... Maybe some how it not registering or the float is stuck and not moving... when you cut the springs, this changes the spring rate.....

Ken,

I'm just not sure we can remain friends after this line. (kidding) I wish I had a machine shop "laying around" while I was building stuff.

Still looking great, hope you make your deadlines. Still a top notch / personal favorite in-process build.

Yeah, I would pull the sending unit out and manually move the float, Bozzhawg has a good point, it could just be stuck on a baffle or something. In the old days you could ground the sender wire and make the guage go to full, so it may be possible to jump the low reference wire and the fuel level wire and make the guage move, or try just un-hooking the sender and see what that does.

I think the problem is you are using :

The GTO instrument cluster
The GTO Sending Unit
The GTO ECM/Body Control

But you omitted the GTO fuel pressure sensor.....

I believe that if you are going to continue to use the GTO setup and concept for the fuel system... It prob would be a good idea to use all of the components that makes it function... When you start ommiting things then, the scratching of the head and azz comes in to play and it makes the install a little harder.... Nothing too bad, but it would be easier to keep it close to the oringinal design as possible....

I talked to Ken last week and I told em that I used the Dakota digital dash.... What I did was use the the efi sending unit from the 95 impala tank and wired my fuel gauge connection accordingly.... Plus I don't think you can reset the GTO gauge cluster's odometer too... I know it would be cool to use it but maybe a headache..

Just try to set it up off the reference schematics.... and see if you have a change.... Some how its registering that the tank is empty and not picking up the signal that the float is moving or if its moving at all..... I know the GTO has a high frequency that it reqs vs your standard GM or Ford sending units.....

Goodluck

Ken, how did the alignment tech compensate for not having the weight of the front sheetmetal on the car? Just curious.

Default GTO Cluster

Very nice car, looking at your dash makes me almost want to start my project over and install a GTO dash, The GTO gauge cluster's also came in a blue background which might look good in your car, I have posted a link to another thread I have been following where the guy installed the complete GTO dash and wiring harness and according to his thread everything works except his cruise control, you might be able to pick his brain on getting your GTO cluster working properly. Good Luck
