Well.................I had a ball driving the car around the midwest this summer....put on around 4400 miles (troublefree).....I had a few minor issues that needed some tweaking......mainly in the suspension area.....I ended up changing the front springs from 350# rated coils to 300# and they improved the ride and ride height.....I also just removed a leaf from the rear springs and finally got the rear to sit a little lower and the car now rides a lot smoother.....again.....due to the softer rear spring rate with the removed leaf.........I now have the car dialed in to the point that I'm running out of things to do............again.....LS Engines "Rock"..........Here are a couple of pic's of the ride height right at the Sweet Spot..........LOL

O.K. Guy's , It's been a fun summer and it's time to put the cars to bed for a while and get caught up on the loose ends........First of all, Dave is doing a schematic of what parts are needed and what was done to get the GTO gauge module to function.....when he gets finished we will post the info here for everyone use.....
Now!!........I need some help from the people in the know here......The GTO gauge module in the 37 works and functions exactly as designed.....even the over/speed warning and Rest Reminder function.....I had a couple of minor issues that were annoying but I was so exicted to get in the car and drive that they weren't that important at the time.....But...Now that the weather is changing and the car will be banished to the garage for a couple, It's time to resolve these issues
After the module went thru its start up diagnostics, after about 60 seconds I would get a couple of faults and along with the faults came the annoying "Beep" "Beep"......after listening to the "Beeping" for so long, I didn't even notice it anymore, In the first fault , it thought the Emergency Brake was on so I got a "Brake" fault......the 2nd was a ABS fault.......
John at Speartech got us looking in the right direction and told us we had to correct these issues thru the BCM.......so....we got the E-Brake figured out.........Now.........John said we would probably have to find which Pin or Pins to use and play with resistors to fool the BCM into thinking its getting the correct signals from the brakes........That is the $64,000 question...Anyone here have any ideas.........We are so close to having a perfect system up and running, just need that last little tweaking...

Thanks in Advance.......By the way, I put about 5000 trouble free miles on this summer.....and again, I want to thank eveyone that helped during the year long build...........

Ken, Are you also getting Airbag faults? I'll deffinately be watching as I'm planning on using my GTO cluster in my 70 Chevelle.

Ken,

Your cluster is from an 05/06 GTO correct? I have an 04 GTO cluster in my 69 Firebird and was able to get all the annoying fault codes by clipping a couple of wires to the cluster. If my memory serves me correct on the 05/06 cluster the ABS Fault and Traction Control fault signals are handled by the BCM via serial data signal. You will need the service manual in order to determine what type of signal the BCM needs from those systems... 5v reference hi/lo. The alternative is using a gauge cluster repair service that may be able to program out those items from the Driver information center (DIC).

When I was completing my car I sent the gauge cluster to them and they zeroed out the cluster to show no miles since my car was a frame off restoration and essentially a brand new car.

Hope this helps,

Sam

Now, at the risk of hurting your feelings, I have to question a couple of your choices. First, that 8" Ford rear axle. I'm not even sure there is a posi-traction type differential available for that rear axle, and if there is, they have a very limited gear selection. Why not use a 9" axle, or even a later 8.8 out of a Mustang or something. Just my .02 cents worth. Also,..unless you are the kind of guy that just likes to cruise or you just like to put on a smoke show and show everyone how much power you've got on tap by spinning your tires, you"re going to wish you had used a different rear suspension system. If you put any kind of tire on there that will hold the kind of power you will be making, I can almost guarantee you will not like those rear springs.
Please don't take my comments the wrong way. I really like the car and I can't wait to see it at the shows. I just hate to see a guy have to redo a really nice finished car. Ron
Ron......One of my biggest regrets was not going with the Coil/Over set-up........you were right, my other car I did was O.K. with the leaf spring set-up and I thought this would work out O.K., But...the Power level of the LS engines basically just over power the leaf springs, and this is something that I will be addressing over the Winter months........You were right,I should have gone with the Coil overs when it was easy.....

Ken, Can you tell me what error messages you are getting on the cluster? I'm guessing ABS and Airbag faults? I am very slowly working on a possible solution with another guy from the LS1GTO forum.

Brake (Emergency Brake) Fault.........But this seems a simple fix......ABS fault ..... a little more complicated.....which has to be resolved thru the BCM........as it stands right now.....it seems we have to sent a certain voltage signal to the BCM to trick it into thinking its getting the correct signal (still working on it)....and I get the Air Bag symbol lit up in the module but no Fault.......But , Maybe after getting the others resolved it might become an issue............

I'll take a look at my manuals for the brake fault. Im pretty sure you will have to complete the circuit that goes to the brake booster and the E-brake handle. I'll let you know what I find when I get home. I'm working on fooling the BCM to think that the Airbag module is giving the "OK" signal through a small microcontroller. Once that's done I'll probably do the same for the ABS.

Ken, It looks like from the schematic, you just need to tie the lead comming out of the IPC (I think it's brown and orange) Pin 30 high. The Brake lamp is activated when ever this line is pulled to ground. I wouldn't tie it directly to +12V, but maybe try to put a 1K resistor in series with the 12+V. When this signal is low it completes the circuit through a transistor lighting up the LED. If you send me your E-mail I'll copy the page out of the FSM and E-mail it to you.
