This project is awesome! I've wanted to do something like this since I was a little kid. Looks great and hopefully I'll have some pictures of my own one day.

That's gonna be awesome when you finished! I wonder how balenced it'll be though with such a heavy motor in the back.

sorry, I didn't see these posts. The a fully dressed LS1 is 44 pounds lighter than the flat six.
I deleted:

-A/C
-Power Steering
-Boosted Breaks
-Mechanical Water pump.
-All emissions since it is a 1979

The radiator is up front with the battery.

The actual balance of the car is better than the original.

Now a diagnosis question. Ideas on the knock in this video?

Put a few miles on the car, 2... Need to do some fine tuning then body work and I'll be out cruising.

oh ya, forgot... who needs 1st gear when you have a ship load of torque. Starting in 2nd it pulls like crazy all the way to red line. the sound from the engine you would thing it was on jack stands free wheeling. No load on the engine.

Figure out the knock yet?

Really awesome project. Hard to believe that the balance is better than the original car. LS engines are so awesome

I finished adjusting the rockers last night, but I didn't want to test fire. I want to be fresh and have it sunny out so I can take it for a test drive.

Thanks.

Engine sounds much better. I will get some video tonight. I still have to connect the alt to the battery in the front. I am having a hard time finding the Porsche wire that ran the length originally.
With the engine so close and zero noise dampening I think I am just hearing things that are usual for the engine.

tonight I am starting to run all the wiring for the lights.
along with that I am slowly starting break down and prep for paint.

Cool project.
I will swap in a cam this winter, I just want to get it painted for now.
The challenge will be to get a cam that gives me more HP through the curve but not overload the torque.
I really have not pushed it yet and it feels like I am sitting in front of a freight train.
there is no "sweet spot"; there is no start and stop to the power curve. It just keeps on pushing harder and harder.
there is really no need for 1st gear.

decided to paint the car myself. I want to be able to say I did everything myself. (other than the cage) I still have to bolt all the trim, rockers and tail back on and finish painting the inside.
